Nobuyuki Bob Ohashi is a Japanese harmonica player.Born and grew up in ghetto part of Tokyo, in the early 80’s he started his career as a musician. He has established his own deeply amplified harmonica sound with heavy throat vibrato influenced by Japanese traditional instrument Shaku-hachi (bamboo flute). He moved to Manhattan, New York in 1997. During his stay in NY, he jammed with lots of local musicians. In 2002 he returned to Tokyo.
Nobuyuki's latest CD includes Japanese internet radio's #1 hit tune "Nobu Mojo". He played this tune at the Apollo Theater."Howling Wolves" and "Fuji-yama Express" are prewar blues style music with lots of gimmick harmonica sound such as trains and barking animals etc.
In 1987, Nobuyuki won the championship at Hohner's Harmonica Contest in Japan. In 1995 he performed at the pre-stage of the Park Tower Blues Festival (one of the biggest blues festival in Japan). In 2002 he performed at "Top Dog" (semi final competition) of Original Amateur Night at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. In May 2007, his harmonica tune “Nobu Mojo” ascended to #1 on Japanese internet radio’s hit charts.
