Nommi, brainchild of Atlanta-based performing composer, Thomas Vinton, represents a new phase in the evolution of pop music for kids and their families.
This music makes you dance AND think.
Its high energy matches the attitude of kids; its positive message reinforces the values of parents. This is a win/win situation for our families.
Themes include self-actualization, peer pressure, sibling rivalry, physical fitness, growing pains, and respect for our environment among others. The songs never sound preachy, just fun - and very contemporary.
Having recorded and performed live since 1985 with a variety of reggae, R&B, rock and world music bands, Thomas Vinton brings his extensive experience into the realm of family entertainment.
His current project began as a solo act in 2002. Based in Austin, Texas at the time, Nommi quickly grew into a full band extravaganza, complete with an energetic stage show that brought dozens of families together on a regular basis.
Favorite Nommi venues in Austin have included: Ruta Maya World Headquarters, Austin Children's Museum, Book People, St. Edward's University, KUT-FM and the Austin Music Network.
While performing shows with the Nommi band, Thomas Vinton also cultivated his mission to educate young aspiring artists by developing an after-school songwriting workshop.
Recognizing the need to introduce this phenomenon to a wider audience, Thomas Vinton relocated with his family to Atlanta in January of 2004. Given its 4+ million population, unstoppable music industry and thriving broadcast opportunities, this metro area promises to be fruitful territory for future Nommi offerings.

My family first bought this CD in Austin two years ago. We have worn out 2 copies and given away at least 4 to teachers who use it to entertain and educate their students. I am buying two copies today for parents with newborns. The sweet syrupy children's songs of the past just don't cut it after you realize you can enjoy your children's music and not be embarassed when you find yourself singing a Nommi song in an elevator.
