ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I've been writing, performing, and recording original music for over 25 years. My heroes are people like Stephen Stills, Paul Simon, Bruce Cockburn, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, and Joni Mitchell. In my songs, the music serves the words, but doesn't take a back seat. I give you something to think about while your toes are tapping.

This album covers a lot of musical ground -- Big Pop, Alternative Country, and Blues, mixed in with some Folk and Rock flavors. It took me 20 years to write (one of the songs is from 1982), and a year to record and mix. I think you'll find something in it that's worth your time and your money.

Very enjoyable CD with a variety of music
Liked the CD the first time but enjoyed it more as I continued to listen. Very original! I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes a variety of music.

One of the best original CDs I've heard this year!
Norm presents a sensitivity rarely seen in recent years mainstream music. This is a very well done recording and captures the moodiness and occasional sunshine of living in Seattle (as the cover art depicts). I particualrly enjoyed tracks: 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, and 10. Hey, thats 6 out of ten and the other 4 aren't bad, just not my faves...
Love the guitar solo in "Six O'Clock" very Dave Gilmore (Pink Floyd), and my particular cup o' tea. This is not yur typical indie-band offering with over-distorted guitars covering even worse vocals and vapid, disgusting lyrics. On the contrary, this is a poet's cornucopia of emotional responses to the ups and downs of living in the modern world. The arrangements are tight but yet leave the Song as a living entity, room to breathe. The instrumentation is crisp, evocative and well played, while the vocals are out front and even more engaging than other more well-known Adult Contemporary artists whom I won't mention by name but you can fill in the blank as you wish. Norm has a place in his voise that is expressive, warm, and yet conveys the appropriate angst of maturity in ways that the punks wish they could but don't really want the life scars to go with it.
I think as I relisten that Shut Me Down and One By One are my personal picks.

Good Sound
A local Seattle artist that offers up variety with keeping a good mood throughout the CD. I am impressed with the individualized sound of each track.
Enjoying my new CD, and looking forward to hearing the next. Keeping my ears open for a live show. Track 5 is my favorite!
Highly recommend purchasing, new artist first CD…great find!

The more I listen the more I love it
Hey Norm, thanks again for the CD. I have listened to it a total of 3 times so far. These are some of the things I liked about it besides the fact that it has overall good sound.

The lead on Six O'Clock, tasty, nice melody. Signs & Wonders, slide guitar nasty... real nasty. Still Not Quite Over You, the lyric really moved me. Early Warning, like the groove. One By One... simply beautiful. Amelia's modulation is perfect. The bell is a hit. And I've always liked your voice and your phrasing.

You tell great stories and all the hard work seems to have paid off cause it sounds great on my stereo. You've got some great hooks and chord progressions.

(In second email a few weeks later...)
I have listened to your cd at least a dozen times now. I think it's great. The more I listen the more I love it. Also it sounds better on my stereo with the volume cranked up to 10.

At the time of the initial listening I found some specific points within it that I liked, and that was the focus of my first e-mail. Now that I have listened to it a significant amount of times, I'm hard pressed to find things within it that I don't like. You are a good songwriter and musician and I think your fledgling flight at producing is wonderful. Also your vocals/lyrics are very good at points all throughout the cd.
