ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The tracks on this album were mostly recorded in 2011, and include some of this Alaskan garage band's final jams before taking a hiatus in September of 2011.
The songs span the range from easy listening to island groove, from psychedelic tone-poems to hard rock jams. Here's a summary of the 12 songs:

Whatever - Instrumental portion of a live improv-jam from early 2011.

Nice Day - An easy island groove; good for the blood pressure. Both relaxing and uplifting.

Average Dog - A rare song--(one with words).

Hillside Jam - A groovy jam with 60's style vibes in the second part.

Crossing The Sound At Night -- Norton Sound, Prince William Sound, Cook Inlet ...-All are dark, fearsome and unpredictable worlds when trying to cross at night in a small skiff. This instrumental concept piece attempts to convey those feelings, evoking images of unpredictable and swiftly changing currents, pummeling waves, and a mix of both exhilaration and a vague dread.

ICU812 - Another semi-psychedelic freestyle number. As always, John Parks is excellent on drums.

Thursday Night Live - Another live performance (mash-up of a one hour freestyle jam).

Full Moon Over Koyukuk - Another instrumental story piece--turns from foreboding to energetic.

Pakalolo Pipedream - There's something you need to do before you listen to this one...

The Slow Demise of Steely Dan's Mojo - ??? (interesting vibe - Sort of neat.)

Wipe Off That Grin, Pilgrim - Re-release of a power-rock jam from an earlier album.

After The Game - So nice. (calming - peaceful - way different from the rock stuff.)

--- The band members (Don Dougherty, Dave Dunn, Brent Haugen and John Parks) all hope to reunite in Alaska at some future date...

(-Don D.)
