ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Outside of work...most people know me only as "Northstar". I've been writing since I was 14 and spent the past seven years performing at and/or hosting or co-hosting various open-mic venues, predominantly in the Fayetteville, NC area. Fayetteville has a huge "underground" artistic scene going on and I learned a lot from the eclectic bunch of poets and musicians that I got to know. Recently, my job has seen me relocate to southern Vermont where, unfortunately, the open-mic scene isn't as alive as I'm used to. So while I'm trying to influence that, I also thought I'd do this.

This CD is a small collection of poems I've written over the past few years. For now, at least, I do all my recordings with a headset and some mixer programs on my laptop. These were done during a few sleepless nights in the Kuwaiti deserts. Now, I'm a "crowd" person. By that I mean that since I've been performing 2-3 times a week, almost every week, for nearly eight years, a good deal of my energy comes from a live audience. So I'm still getting the hang of it capturing that same energy on a recording and trying to figure out to use this sound tech I've been playing with.

But all of that aside, this is me...heart and soul...and I hope you get some enjoyment out listening to my poems. Thanks!

-Northstar
