Nosirrah Ecnal is the name I assumed after my real name was hijacked by my other blues musician/entertainer persona and not wanting to confuse people with what I'm doing now with what I was doing before. If I had been smarter about it on the outset I would have assumed a good blues moniker like "Myopic Willie Jefferson" and been able to keep my own name. But no matter. The music is the important thing here! So, while entering the information for the CD a request comes up before me on the screen...
"Name a known artist that you sound like."
I haven't got a clue! I'm just making the music in my head into a form that other people could experience also!
Then...
"Choose two genres and subgenres, plus a mood that describes your music.
These choices will be used when people browse CD Baby by genre or mood."
So,
I looked everywhere in the associated pull down menu. Nowhere could I find the tab for, "Rock, Classical, Funk, World, Jazz, Psychedelic, Blues, Trance, Country, Pop, Experimental, Alternative, Folk with a Hillbilly Twist". I looked all over! Sure, they listed a lot of these separately but, what genre am I in?
I suppose I'm supposed to stick to one style or another but it is a mighty big world out there and lots of interesting and different types of music! So, the thing I like to do is mix it all up. Sometimes it starts with a guitar riff I've been playing around with or a drum rhythm in my head. Sometimes it's a bass line. How it begins is of no consequence, once the seed is planted it begins to grow and as the story unfolds to me I follow the paths it leads me down.
My wife says its great "Driving Music". I looked, no category for that in Genre or Mood either.
Best is for you to listen to it yourself and make your own opinion as to what this music is about. All I know is that everyone I play it for seems to really like it! Remember, they are all very different from each other and if you come up with a genre for it... please, let me know!
About Nosirrah Ecnal
Once upon a time we had real jobs with a real house and... That changed.
Once upon a time we became homeless... then we realized that the world was our home. It was a good life for sure,
Once upon a time we became vagabond buskers, who got discovered by accident! It was a good life for sure,
Once upon a time I was a "blues musician/entertainer"! It was a good life for sure, playing festivals and concerts in many lovely places in many lands. But, one day we had 'the' feeling. We knew this feeling from 'previous' lives and knew that if we did not act, it would be acted upon us. This 'life' was a good 'pit stop' but it was time to move on. So, we chose to continue our interrupted path that we had begun so many years ago. The world was our home!
The "trip around the world". We did it and then decided to stop for a while longer in the south of Laos, where we are now.
Freedom!
Used to living in small spaces, we feel right at home here on our bungalow's porch overlooking the Mekong River. This is where I record on my laptop with a few microphones, guitars and a keyboard. What a view!
I no longer had to constrain my musical compositions to those in the blues direction and felt a relieving flow of music and creativity burst forth! Not that I don't play blues anymore! Of course I do! It's a big part of me and who I am! But there is so much fun to be had playing with sound and light and shape and... I continue to record new ideas and learn a 3D animation program and work with video and ... relax. It is a great life!
