The members of Notary Sojac have finally realized a long-time goal of making our music available to you, through the release of a 2-CD set.....more than two-and-a-half hours of live recordings! These are mastered from original tapes of performances in Eugene, OR and Olympia, WA, during 1972-1973. Despite the many years that have passed, the sound quality is excellent overall. Our band’s whole aim was to reach out and move people, inwardly as well as outwardly, with our own original music and words. The 2-CD set is called “Notary Sojac, Live, 1972-1973\" and represents our group “sound” from that time. During this phase, our music really reached an apex of creativity and power. The Individual Members Bob Koski (guitar, flute, percussion, vocals and songwriting) Steve Koski (guitar, pedal steel guitar, vocals and songwriting) Tom McMeekan (guitar, vocals and songwriting) Will Herold (Hammond organ, electric piano / vocals and songwriting) Jim Lowry (bass) Doug Ness (drums) This group expected itself to broaden the range of how music can be used as an expressive language. The interactive play of “Zoidal” music, which creeps in occasionally in our regular songs (hear the flute solo on “Point of View”), is a product of that effort. In the near future, it is hoped that we can offer another 2-CD set, “Return of Zoid”, a continuous free-Zoid jam that developed at one of our gigs. It embodies the essence of that spontaneous group-synergy-creation. This set of recordings contains 23 original songs written by various members of the group, along with 3 non-original instrumentals. The song styles range through swing, straight-ahead rock, country, blues, jazz-rock, ballad and extended instrumental arrangements, with the occasional amusing diversions that come from the joy of interacting with an appreciative audience. At its best, the inspiration, the humor and dynamic interplay of these six musicians give NOTARY SOJAC’s music a timeless appeal. Thirty-five years have not dimmed the vitality, the “message” nor the dance-ability. The 2 CDs come in a dual slim-line case, with photos and detailed track information. Enjoy!
