Indie up & comer’s Natives of the New Dawn have been building a worldwide reputation for their infamous live performances and indefinable sound. From a virtual nowhere, Natives of the New Dawn have quickly become one of the most undetected, underrated, and best kept secrets of Detroit based ‘next in lines’ to take the music world by storm. With a uniquely original brand of Motown inspired rock/hip hop mash up, and an unrivaled, energetically charged live show the Natives of the New Dawn have been creating quite a buzz for themselves, since their inception nearly 2 years ago.

As the bands first major independent release, Need Something, for most is really their first glimpse into the New Dawn. As regular show goers have become accustomed to, Need Something is a high energy rollercoaster of motown influenced funk, complemented by southern blues inspired rock solos, and an element of soul-filled, consciously driven hip hop that begs to be classified, but can’t seem to be compared.

From the insatiable baked, fried, and stewed funk of People and its guarantee to "change your platitudes and curb your bad attitudes" to Thrill of the Hunt’s brake-neck tale of passion, seduction, and lust. Need Something, is an album that puts Natives of the New Dawn in a classification all their own, somehow musically jumping all over the map, while still maintaining a tightly focused, well balanced offering.

With 2 summer’s of Warped Tour under their belt as the black sheep of the tour’s one and only all hip hop based stage, the crossover New Dawn, once dubbed “the evolution of the jam band” have been proving to be much more an evolution in music. The versatile New Dawn has in fact seemly created a type of universal music infectiously influencing and winning over audiences from both punk and hip-hop, to jam, soul, and rock. Virally spreading their music from Detroit, where they have sold out nearly every venue in town including the legendary Saint Andrew’s Hall, all the way overseas to Germany where they won over tens of thousands of screaming Europeans to finish 2nd out of nearly 10,000 bands in the Emergenza International Music Festival.

For the summer of 2006, the Natives are again performing on the Van’s Warped being selectively featured on the Ernie Ball Music Man stage, as well as embarking on a heavy independent, nationwide summer tour schedule in support of their new release, Need Something.
