Album Notes

Nowhere Slow is a Northeastern PA based band. All four members hail from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Area. The band's current lineup was completed in November of 2002.
Nowhere Slow was formed several years ago by cousins Rick Gillette(lead vocals) and Jeff Hertzog(drums). Another family member, Dan Dobitsch, played bass for the group before moving to Delaware. Dan currently remains vital to the band as a technical advisor. After Dan's departure, Joe Spinelli stepped in as the band's bassist, bringing along musician, Frank Sartorio, who became the group's lead guitarist. Nowhere Slow played shows around the Scranton area and the Poconos, where they caught the attention of producer Nick Soviero. In the spring of 2001, guitarist Jim Alba began to sit in with the group during certain shows, although he was not yet a permanent member of the group's lineup. Alba's guitar style immediately connected with Gillette's, and by the fall of 2001, Alba was a full-time member of the band. In December, 2001, Frank Sartorio left the group due to creative differences, and Nowhere Slow's current lineup was solidified.
The band started recording at Nick Soviero's Pocono Academy of Music in the spring of 2002. Currently, Nowhere Slow is touring to support the album. Upon the album's release, Nowhere Slow was contacted by an agent from New York City, and they will be playing shows at various clubs in the City throughout the upcoming year. All information regarding dates is available via the band's mailing list. Anyone can join the mailing list by sending an email to the address listed inside the album cover. Also, the group is anxious to return to the studio to begin work on their second album, though there is no release date planned for that project yet.
Nowhere Slow's colorful sound is a result of their varying musical influences. Rick Gillette derives his guitar sound from influences such as Dave Matthews, Third Eye Blind, and more recently John Mayer. Jim Alba sites influences ranging from Alex Lifeson and Stevie Ray Vaughan, to some classical and jazz musicians. Will Clauss, the group's new bassist, has drawn inspiration from musicians such as Victor Wooten. Finally, Jeff Hertzog can trace his beats back to some of the great jazz and rock drummers, like Buddy Rich. The members of the band have taken these influences and built upon them to create their own sound, the product of which can be heard on songs such as "Horizons".
"Look Up and Jam" is their debut album, and was recorded with producer Nick Soviero in Mountainhome, PA. The band is best known for fusing all kinds of musical genres together, forming a unique sound. "Look Up and Jam" has influences of rock, pop, blues and folk. Song subjects range from love and life, to personal conflict. Gillette's folk-influenced rhythms and Alba's blues/classical-influenced melodies form a near perfect marriage, while the rhythm section of Hertzog and Clauss anchors the group, forming their unique sound. If you are looking for high energy music to JAM to, "Look Up and Jam" is the answer. If you decide to purchase "Look Up and Jam", please send an e-mail to the address inside the CD cover with your comments about the album.
*A Note to Our Fans:
Due to a new career opportunity, Joe Spinelli has left the band. The group wishes Joe all the best, and he will remain an important asset as the band takes it's next step in the business. Nowhere Slow is also pleased to announce that local musician, Will Clauss, is taking over permanently as the new bassist for Nowhere Slow.
