notes
"Like an unholy combination of Nick Cave and Rob Zombie, with a psychotic pinch of The Cramps thrown into the stew. "
-- Cemetery Dance Magazine
"Horror + humor x good ole', hard drivin' rock 'n roll = Nick Noxious and the Necrophiliacs. This is the real deal--butt rockin' tunes with side-splitting lyrics that are a pure delight for fans of the horror genre. Come Hallowe'en, I expect to hear Nick's tunes all over the radio, but this is year 'round tunage for any midnight revels or roadtrips. Enjoy."
-- Rick Hautala, Horror Writer
"The Nick Noxious CD is the tastiest bit of musical roadkill stew I've come across in a long time. Rock n roll, horror, and black comedy have never mixed this well!"
-- Christopher Golden, Horror Writer
FEATURED ON DOCTOR DEMENTO!
Make this the merriest Halloween ever with this sick and twisted rock collection from this Damariscotta, Maine based combo. Tunes swing from the macabre to the hilarious with morbid alacrity as the band suggests we take a peek at the lighter side of a darker theme.
World renowned horror artist Glenn Chadbourne is Nick Noxious. Veteran bassist J. P. Fisher and hard rocking guitarist Dave Magnusen form the core of the Necrophiliacs, with Tracy Kapocious and Esa Fisher singing harmonies as the Necrophilliettes. Mark Matzell provides the tasty drumming on "Reaper Rhyme".
Most of these songs were written and recorded (often in the same night!) during the cold winter of 03-04. "Hellride", "Mandy", and "Julies Box" were written twenty years ago.
There's a world of variety here, from the twangy tremolo guitars invoking old spy movies from the '60s to crunchy rockers to calypso and even a touch of swingy jazz.
More often than not, you'll find yourself in the graveyard, but on "Ballad Of Babs" you'll go fishing off the coast of Maine, and "Grave's Edge" is an elder care facility with the finest care next to anywhere.
"Reaper Rhyme" is actually a composition of old English children's rhymes, and "Voices In My Head" exposes the workings of a paranoid schizophrenic - who just might be your neighbor.

aaaagh!!! fun AND good music
author: trkelleygreat production & instrumentation concepts on this & the creepy lyrics are easy to understand ...which is the point, right? kudos to the recordist. A must for Halloween (duh!) but anyone who likes scary stories, Maine accents and weird guitar tremolo will dig this. I give it 4 maggots up!
