Album Notes

Kelton Harper aka Nspire, began writing poetry and songs in the mid-eighties when he was in middle school. In high school, he enrolled in radio broadcasting and was also a member of the drama club. This allowed him to travel though out his home state of Louisiana performing in numerous plays and participating in live music events. He moved to California’s Bay Area in the mid-nineties and began to collaborate with various local rap and R&B artists. He was also an artist with San Francisco’s popular multi cultural band F.F.C (Forest Fires Collective). Later, he founded Nspire Records & Entertainment and released a five song c.d. of inspirational poetry, recorded in song-mode with original music. The c.d. was entitled “Nspire…the poetry artist”. It created a huge buzz in the Bay Area along with various performance opportunities. He featured at many performance venues promoting positivity and, drawing laughs and smiles from listeners while inspiring them. He performed at the 2005 “Back to School at Merritt” event at Merritt College in Oakland that was broadcast by Bonefly Entertainment and Television in Los Angeles. The event drew over 3000 people. He opened for motivational speaker and political activist, Cousin Jeff of B.E.T. at the Malcom X convention at Laney College in Oakland, which was covered by B.E.T. More than 6000 people attended. One of his songs was featured on the soundtrack of a play in which he performed and co-wrote. The play was called “Streets Have Spoken”. It was produced by Colored Ink Productions. It premiered at the Brava Theatre in San Francisco and drew 1800 people in 2 days. Recently, he worked with Playa Righteous Folks Productions on his new c.d. entitled “Something Great”. It’s 15 songs of Original Poetry Music. It features various musicians and vocalists. It has no profanity and every song has a positive message. Since it’s release, Nspire has performed at numerous events and establishments, including the Juneteenth festival in Sacramento California and Dino’s, which is a pub on the Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also featured on Al Live, which is a TV show that aires on Ch.2 in the Sacramento area. He was also the featured artist on BaySmoothJazz.com, the second largest online smooth jazz radio station in the world. He appeared on The Amie Jo Show (Corner For Success), an AM radio station in Las Vegas as well as The Louie Jones Show, an AM station in Chicago. "Something Great" is a blend of poetry, jazz, neo-soul and R&B. It’s also easy listening. The album can be sampled and purchased at myspace.com/nspirepoet.
