Album Notes

Nu blir sommar contains some of the most popular and beautiful Swedish songs. Originally performed by the troubadour composers themselves, here the songs have been transformed into intimate vocal-piano renditions. While the arrangements contain subtle jazz skills, they mostly portray the infinite possibilities of the beautiful Scandinavian melodies and the tradition of story-telling.

A pleasure to hear
author: Rhonda
This is a very enjoyable CD. The vocalist (JG) and the pianist (MP) complement each other. JG's voice is especially well suited for these songs. The song selections are more diverse than I expected. Brief a cappella bits and harmony vocals appear on some songs, but for the most part, it's just JG and MP. Track 10 is unusual in that it is completely a cappella and harmony vocals are pervasive. All in all, this is a great CD. The main drawback is that unless you know Swedish, you won't have a clue what's being sung. (The lyrics aren't even provided in Swedish, much less English.) However, not understanding the lyrics didn't bother me as much as it usually does. Finally, it would be nice to know who is singing the harmony vocals.
