Nu Star was born Venes St. Ilis on April 2, 1986. This 21 year old multi-talented singer, rapper, and song writer is Haiti's Nu Star. Nu Star now resides in sunny Southwest Florida where he attends Edison College. He contributes all his success to his personal relationship with God. Nu Star has been taking the music industry by storm ever since 2004. He was introduced to the industry by way of his cousin rapper Sho Boi-The Real McCoy, who is now one of the hottest talents to ever come out of Southwest Florida. Sho Boi who's enlisting one of his many talents, fulfilled the role of producer on Nu Star's debut hit single entitled "My Life," which quickly rose to the top and was nominated as the people's favorite.
When asking Nu Star what inspires his style of music he replied, "What inspires me the most when it comes to making music is my true life situations, but the one single thing that inspires me the most is the state of my people back in Haiti. About four years ago when I was back in Haiti and just to look around and see the extremely poor living conditions of my people motivated me to speak out about it through music. The conditions that people in Haiti are living in are beneath the standards that support the quality of life. Many Haitian people are suffering terribly and just the simple fact of all the small children that live on the streets upsets me. Children sleeping in abandon buildings and basically anywhere else that can made of a temporary place of shelter, with no food to eat. I want to be able to give back to my country one day. In hopes of making a difference when it comes to the impoverished living conditions of my people."

Nu Star credits the working characters of Wyclef Jean and Tupac Shakur as most important when it comes to being the type of working person he has came to be throughout his music career. Nu Star stated that Tupac Shakur is his favorite rapper/lyricist of all time because of Tupac's uncanny ability to attract so many different souls to his music using his unique style of delivery and his real life messages that were aimed at exposing the controversial issues that affected our Black African-American communities.
