Album Notes

The # 1 Rock and Roll Choir in the World, New Voices of Freedom, guide you through their unique blend of Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz Rock and Reggae. The album "Rockspel" introduces( their director, Gold/Platinum award winning producer, pianist, conductor) Dennis Bell's concept of bringing the worlds of American Music together, melding it into the powerful sound of a choir. Rockspel finds its voice in their only solo CD, featuring their version of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (which was heard by U2 and led to their collaborations). New Voices of Freedom can be seen and heard with supergroup U2 on their platinum album and film "U2, Rattle and Hum", with Lenny Kravitz in the video and recording of John Lennon's "Give Peace A Chance" and in the great world music collaborative CD /BBC TV Special "One World, One Voice" with Sting, Peter Gabriel, The Gypsy Kings, Dave Stewart, The Leningrad Symphony Orchestra, The Kodo Drummers and many others. They have also worked with everyone from Aretha Franklin to Celia Cruz on CD's and Commercials. Their latest appearance was with James Brown and Jimmy Fallon for the opening of the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.. They are not to be missed.. this is their only recorded solo effort... the singing is..well..phenomenal!!!

...In some scenes (Rattle and Hum) the music is so powerful it overwhelms the rest. The gospel choir (NVOF) on "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" could raise goosebumps in a morgue."

The gospel seeds of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" flower when U2 is joined on the Madison Square Garden Stage by the New Voices of Freedom gospel choir. To say the rendition of the song is stirring is to understate its impact.
