Album Notes

NYCO is a 4 piece rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The band's founding member, Ted Atkatz, is formerly the principal percussionist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, but he left the orchestra in 2006 to write, play and perform with NYCO.

The band has been featured on WGN TV, WXRT radio, Q101 Chicago, and on many college stations. In 2007, the band was featured on the front page of the New York Times Arts Section. Since 2005, NYCO has performed over 130 shows in the midwest and on both coasts. NYCO's first international tour happenened in January of 2007 in the French West Indies.

NYCO's first full length release, Two, is the culmination of two years of writing and recording by the band. The band stretches stylistically on Two, with songs that alternate between soulful and raucous. NYCO's intellectual pop has been compared to the music of Keane, Steely Dan, and Ben Folds.

Two was recorded in Los Angeles and Chicago, and the album is produced by two time Grammy winner, Jim Tullio, known for his work with The Band, Mavis Staples, and John Martin.

In 2007, NYCO's music has been used in the advertising of Volkswagen Motors, Ford Motors and JC Penney, and NYCO's "English Song" was featured in a remix contest sponsored by Sony/Acid Planet.

The record has sold over 2,000 copies through the band's hard work on the road over the last year and a half. Get it now!

Can't stop singing it
author: Valerie Pye
This is one of those CDs that you want to send to all your friends. It really grows on you -- I find myself singing different bits all the time, and then I've got to replay it. It's got a great sexy jazz groove under that indie rock sound -- really sophisticated, smart, catchy music. You won't be disappointed. Good, good stuff.

The first song is definitely the best. Overall, a good CD! Easy to listen to while driving. I would buy the CD for the first song alone, but there is nice variety. Definitely worth buying!

Jazzy
author: Christine Neumann
The songs are pretty low key, not too many dance tunes but sweet songs with jazzy/funky flava. Sounds like, (to me), space hog
