Album Notes

John released his debut CD -"Point of View" on NBR Jazz. It was the “#1 Requested Album" on WGMC & made the "Top 40 Contemporary Jazz albums of 1992" list for Rochester.

John is the jazz pianist with trumpeter/conductor Jeff Tyzik with the Buffalo and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestras. He has also worked with the Syracuse, Utica, Northeastern Pennsylvania, Stamford & Hartford CT., and
Wilmington, DE orchestras. Guests included Doc Severinson, Allen Vizzutti, Don Potter, Linda Hopkins, Chris Vadala, Gerry Niewood, Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Daniels, Ray Ricker, Tony DiPaulo, Michael Civisca, Five Alive, New York Voices, Monica Mancini and Robin McKelle.
Other performances: Steve Gadd, Peter Erskine, Jeff Campbell, Rich Thompson, & Cabo Frio.

Teaching Assistantship/Fellowship - Masters of Music-Eastman. There he performed with the legendary Joe Henderson, composer/conductor Maria Schneider, and Benny Carter and with Bob Brookmeyer at Town Hall in New York City.

In 2008 John released his 2nd CD as a leader featuring Clay Jenkins (trumpet), Rich Thompson (drums), Jeff Campbell (bass), and Mike Karn (tenor sax) with all new originals by Nyerges entitled “Jazz, Pictures, & Poems”. This CD contains art photography by (brother) Paul Nyerges and poetry by (daughter) Elissa Nyerges.

John will be performing this music with his Quintet at the RIJF (Rochester International Jazz Festival) on June 19, 2009 in the Main Festival Tent at 6:00 PM!!
