Nyhyl River happens to be one of the most original and highly elevated artists traveling from Trenton, "New Jeruse," a Northern section of New Jersey's capital city, better known as Divineland. We had a chance to meet with Nyhyl during his usual work at the Shelter feeding, clothing and caring for the homeless.
"I ask Jah to help me continue on my journey as I constantly try to inspire this service of mine in the public interest."
Nyhyl is a graduate student at Albany State University. He is pursuing a Masters degree in Public Administration with a triple concentration in Water Resource Management, Human Resource Management and Economic Development.
"My true belief is that knowledge reigns supreme over nearly everything in existence. When one elevates his mind, he expounds on his life force. The mind is that life force because it enables all structures to exist in the forms that they exist in which is pure raw energy."
While listening to Nyhyl's first release, MOTCH ON HOME, you will truly get a sense for his ability to take complex historical truths and mold them into soul moving masterpieces. His views about society are honest in the sense that they have been taken from life's actual experiences.
"Every rhyme I write and every song I recite always seems to come out right because they contain the true essence of my blackness and the blood, sweat and tears of my struggles. Even as we speak, I continue to struggle by trying to help those who are less fortunate than myself, while in the process of trying to achieve my own goals."
"I Sincerely Love All Mankind, that's just my Poor Righteous way. Without a doubt, I am poor too, but my life is rich with love for the human family and I try to make a difference in everything that I do. Right now, my only wish is that I could maybe sell a song or two and help more people who are struggling to survive. It's all about living in the last days and giving back what you can't take with you when you leave. So buy the CD folks and keep your spot in line for your 'blessing,' just in case you believe in you. Peace."
