Album Notes

Originating from members of the Toasters and releasing their albums on Moon Ska Records, the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble are back home on Megalith Records with their latest release, Minor Moods. Hosting a very tight and fresh line up (Freddie Rieter being the only original member) this album is classic Ska Jazz at their best. With a slew of new tunes and a nice live cut of the crowd favorite "Butta" this album is sure to please any ska fan.
Also as a special treat, a new recording of Mouse (that you may remember from the Toasters 'Hard Band For Dead' album) appears as a great half way point to the set. If you want to know what ska means, listen up cause the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble is here to tell you. This cd also boasts musicians from our Mr. T-Bone 'Sees America' release.

Minor Moods was a great suprise to me it kept me on my toes the whole time; (dancing that is) the album is new with flavor it has some great sax solos thanks to Reiter. Its truely a solid album with some great latin-ska too, I never get let down by these guys.

I hadn't heard these guys without Rick Faulkner, but they're still great, in fact, this might be my favourite NYSJE album ever.
