Album Notes

So, you say you want a revolution? Upbeat grooves and thought provoking lyrics form an energy and passion that makes O.A.R. so refreshing.

O.A.R. blends music's purest elements of rock, pop, folk, funk, and reggae creating a sound and feeling so original it is hard to place this steady, feel good groove in just one genre.

All five members are students at Ohio State University and have built a large regional following along with a national fan base spreading throughout most major college campuses across the country.

The idea behind O.A.R. is to ensure that each person who experiences the music comes away with an unforgettable memory.

With the release of 'Risen' produced by John Alagia, the band's recording debut on Everfine Records, O.A.R. truly comes of age in the studio. The eleven songs perfectly capture the energy and power of their live performance. O.A.R. continues to tell stories not only with the lyrics, but with the music at the same time.

Love the message
author: The Girl in Plaid
Personally, I love this CD, even though it's quite different from what I usually listen to. I love the honesty of the lyrics and I really like the message behind a lot of the songs. Some of them actually inspire me. "Let your mind go/For a minute or two/Let your mind levitate/For a delicate few." How can you NOT feel at peace after listening to that? I'll agree, though, that it takes some getting used to. When I first listened to the sample tracks, I didn't know what to make of it. But "Night Shift" kept getting impossibly stuck in my head, so I kept coming back to listen to it again and soon I was hooked. I don't regret buying it for a second. The perfect music to play in summer, or on blue-skied wintery days when all you want is for the summer to come again.
