notes

So, you say you want a revolution? Upbeat grooves and thought provoking lyrics form an energy and passion that makes O.A.R. so refreshing.

O.A.R. blends music's purest elements of rock, pop, folk, funk, and reggae creating a sound and feeling so original it is hard to place this steady, feel good groove in just one genre.

All five members are students at Ohio State University and have built a large regional following along with a national fan base spreading throughout most major college campuses across the country.

The idea behind O.A.R. is to ensure that each person who experiences the music comes away with an unforgettable memory.

With the release of 'Risen' produced by John Alagia, the band's recording debut on Everfine Records, O.A.R. truly comes of age in the studio. The eleven songs perfectly capture the energy and power of their live performance. O.A.R. continues to tell stories not only with the lyrics, but with the music at the same time.

  • Love the message
    author: The Girl in Plaid

Personally, I love this CD, even though it's quite different from what I usually listen to. I love the honesty of the lyrics and I really like the message behind a lot of the songs. Some of them actually inspire me. "Let your mind go/For a minute or two/Let your mind levitate/For a delicate few." How can you NOT feel at peace after listening to that? I'll agree, though, that it takes some getting used to. When I first listened to the sample tracks, I didn't know what to make of it. But "Night Shift" kept getting impossibly stuck in my head, so I kept coming back to listen to it again and soon I was hooked. I don't regret buying it for a second. The perfect music to play in summer, or on blue-skied wintery days when all you want is for the summer to come again.

  • Lyrics that stick
    author: Lillian

Although this CD takes a while to get used to, you soon realize how awesome the lyrics are and you learn to love the sound of the music. I love "Hey Girl"... it's so upbeat and the lyrics are so, so relistic. I love this.

  • Xtrodanarily awsome :-)
    author: K J Mono

OAR is my favorite band. Finaly I was able to get one of the cd's. I love all the songs they've ever made! I have most the songs on my ipod and listen to it even when I'm taking a dump.

  • author: John

I don't know why some people think this is good... Probably for the same reason Milli Vanilli won a grammy. This band has no special talent. The singing sucks, the musicianship is nothing special, and the songwriting is TERRIBLE!!! REALLY FORCED ANGST. Most of the fans of this band are no doubt young and unexposed to what good really is. Don't waste your money. No one will no who this band is in 5 years, thank god!!!

  • heard you sold 1500 cds in 5 days!

great cd great songs and absolute stunner from the band.

  • OAR kicks ass
    author: Richard

All you people saying stuff about remaking songs wants me to kick your ass. There are so many more artists that remake great songs throughout history and "MURDER" them in the process. I just want to thank OAR for making another great album that i can chill to with my friends. Everyone in my town loves OAR's music and can't wait to here more of it.

  • Amazing!!
    author: Brandon

I am a DJ at a club at my respective university, and we use to play "The Crazy Game of Poker" as a last song of the night to get people out. Now people have fallin in love with the song we have to play it all the time because of all the requests we get! And this is a club that mostly plays dance music. That is how great this cd is. Buy it!!

  • Fun and Rockin!
    author: Erin

This CD is college bar music at it's best. It is cultish and catchy. Refreshing and fun, I will continue to follow O.A.R.

  • Dr. Wankenstein
    author: Underground and All Around

Stop it. All of you. These guys have no talent. Lyrical skill is non-existent. Music is a pastiche of all bad funk and reggae bands that came before. "Three chords and the truth", Bono once said. These guys have three chords and a turd.

  • listen

you shall listen to the cd, and you shall buy it, for I say that you will.

  • a GREAT listening EXPERIENCE
    author: Bruce Lomet (CHINASKI)

From the opening tune, the radio friendly "Hey Girl", through to the last, this album never fails to keep one in a dancing mood, even when the subject matter of the songs turns to the inevitable relationship break-ups and other sad subjects. If your OAR listening experience has been anything like mine, this CD will make a great addition to your collection.

  • Risen is in my CD player right now...how about you??
    author: Phil

This band is an addiction. Risen is the best album I have heard in awhile. To anybody that hasn't seen them live, do it as soon as possible. I saw them on Halloween and it was the best ever. I think we have a winner here.

  • author: Steve

This is the best single CD ever. If you are in college, and you like to drink beer and party, then you will like this CD. So buy it and play it at your parties.

  • One of the best albums I've ever heard!
    author: Kristie

This is absolutly one their best cd's! It's always a must have on a road trip...even to the store for some milk! I would recomend this cd to anyone - it's so fun and happy; 'Hey Girl' just makes you wanna jump up and down and 'Untitled" hits your soul hard. I love this cd as well as all of their other ones!! O.A.R. ROCKS! -"If could have kissed her every time that I missed her I still would be out the door." = D

  • This cd is bad ass. Untitled is one of my all-time favorite tunes...
    author: Nicholle

When I first heard Risen, I knew I was gonna love this band. The lyrics are great and the music is so new and refreshing. I love the untitled song. one of my favorites.

  • WOW
    author: Joe

When you first hear this CD, it is impossible to bring to mind another band with any semblance of the sound that OAR posses. This CD is so original its scary, and the lyrics are so simple and true that if you find one music lover who doesn't relate to and adore this band, you are the definite minority. I can only imagine what the effervesent exuberance portrayed in these songs is like live.

  • Awesome sound,orginal, raw positive energy,very relatable lyrics,Guiding

This Cd is simply incredable. i cant generate enouh good adjectives to describe my feelings for this cd and OAR in general. i have all thier CDs and have been to all thier shows in my area, i even met them and they truly are the coolest guys in the world. the best part about thier music is that when i listen to it it just makes me feel so damn good! Love to OAR forever!

  • I can especially relate to the music.
    author: Natalie

This cd by oar is amazing. I had never heard of oar until a boy I liked told me that he liked them, so of course, the next week, I went out and bought their cd. At first I thought, "hmm..I'm really just buying this because the boy I like is obsessed with them." BUT.....I listened to them and i got HOOKED! Their music is so "feel-good" and whenever I am going through a rough time, all I have to do is pop in my oar cd and i feel 10 times better.

  • one song got me hooked
    author: kerry

all my friends love oar but i never heard them so i didnt really care and thought they were just another group but once i listen to their cd for the first time i was instantly hooked this band is by far the best right now

  • O.A.R. is by far the best band ever.
    author: Brian Bourdua

Risen is one of the best cds out there. If you buy this CD I will assure you that you will be very happy. If you get the CD and do not like it, give me an email and tell me why you didn't like it. I'm sure no one will need to do this, but my address is Bbourdua3@yahoo.com. I seriously challenge you to buy this record and not love it. No one I have ever met dislikes this band. They are awesome, don't take my word, just go out and buy it.

  • OAR is the best band out there!
    author: Kim

This is one of the greatest CD's I've ever went out and bought! OAR is a great band and this is their best non-live CD out! Everyone should go get it, its amazing!

    author: Lemon

dudes, not only is this cd amazingly amazing, OAR is the greatest band i have ever heard. i have all of the bands cd's and my lord they are awsome... someday i hope to meet them... get the cd dudes, get them all

  • Bad ass
    author: Tim

This band has got everything that you need. The reggae, funk, rock mix is amazing in and of itself, but the raw volcals make it hard to hate anything this band does. Their whole sound is raw, and unpolished, The way music should be made.

  • Good Talent Run Through the 'Pop Friendly' Factory
    author: Terry

O.A.R. getting John Alagia to produce their newest album was a good step into breaking big. I love these guys and their upbeat tempo and all around butt kickin' abilities. However out of their 3 albums, this one is definitely at the bottom of the list. It's pretty obvious that they tried for a more radio friendly, pop sound. O.A.R. is definitely maturing musically, Risen shows that they can play subdued mellow rock for the opinionless pop masses. Very professional and clean, this album has a few remakes of older material, all of which in my opinion do no justice to their harder rocking originals. Hopefully this album is just a stepping stone for an awesome band to get their reggae hued rock and roll out to the masses. Do us a favor guys, dump Alagia as soon as you can. He produced Vertical Horizon for god's sake! :)

  • OAR... the best band ever
    author: Nickle

Dude OAR is the best band in this world there cd rocks,any1 who doesnt like them is crazy. OAR IS THE BEST BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW
    author: Josh

This of course is the bands best album but, only because it was done in studio. I love them live but, Risen blew my mind. Given the chance to use the studio and they killed it. Truley a wonderful sounding record by a truely original band.

  • Katie is not a fan of good music
    author: Scott

I wish there were more stars. I like all of their albums but i will say that my favorite songs by O.A.R. are off this album. ANd anybody who doesn't like it either has poor taste in music or didn't really give it a chance.

  • Positive Vibes
    author: -dan (vermilion, Oh)

4 stars, not 5. O.A.R. is an excellent band, definitely one of the best up and coming. But like any other band they have short comings. The lyrics in a lot of the songs need work, they just need to make more sense, which in result, will help fans relate better. But dont get me wrong....The positive reggae beats and the energy they have live are both amazing! Trust me I know, I've seen them at Nautica in Cleveland, Wittenberg University, and Oberlin College. The Oberlin show was the best concert I've ever seen! Keep it up guys, and come back to Oberlin like you said you would at the concert!

  • Katie sucks
    author: Mim

Katie before you go writing O.A.R sucks, let me tell you something, YOU SUCK. Get a taste in music for God's sake. Maybe listen to your friends. I think they probably were tryin to help you out. If you don't like O.A.R, then you need help

  • This is the BEST
    author: Susana

This is the best CD ever. I am generally a Britney Spears fan, but when I heard OAR I was hooked. I listen to it 24/7. My favorite song is Here's to you, it is the best. If you haven't heard them then you really are missing out.

  • OAR RULES!!!!!
    author: Mim

I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to the radio or any other CD.Risen and OAR just rule.I wouldn't waste my time listening to anything else unless it is either the Wanderer or Soul's Aflame. I love OAR!!!!!!

  • I spin the cd almost 24/7
    author: D.j. Miller Kipper ( N.u. 107.1)

Some people say they are slowed down, perhaps they make no sense in the world. The album reminds me of old Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, the voice is more on a hyper killer good, the bassist sits on its pulling out the guitar but it makes the band alive. I think A.O.R. will not go on revulotion about this, they are naturally talented, the cd tells it. KEEP ON ROCKING GUYS!!! P.S. I ask you guys to support me coz i support you.

  • Maryland/Ohio Band makes very good
    author: Shawn

since my brother introduced me to O.A.R.'s music a year ago, I have been hooked. Now that I'm living in San Diego, its hard to get them exposure. O.A.R. is one of those up and coming bands that will make it big SOON! I saw a previous review that said they wished O.A.R. would make a trip to NC. Well, they are coming to San Diego on Feb. 12, and I finally get to see them live. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll come back after the show and give a review of the show. Until then...see ya!

  • not only oars best CD thee best CD
    author: Keith

Oar is the greatest band! Risen is by far there best album!I listen to it 24/7 and i still cant get enough of it. If you dont like it then you have absolutly no taste in music. OAR IS THE BEST!!

  • Tight Joint !!!
    author: Mattyh

This is the best band EVER! This Cd is very good and goes well with the Wanderer and Souls Aflame. The Lyrics to the songs are remarkable and all tell a story within every song. They have some nice remakes of older songs too! I saw them once in Baltimore and I am seeing them again in Towson, they are awesome live. This is just a sick band!! keep the cd's coming... I can't get enough!

  • oar's best cd a serious must have
    author: Drew

i first time I heard oar was in october of 2000. from then on i purchased all of their cd's, and have seen them twice. Risen is the finest of their works, encompassing all of their talents and spirit. Rock on guys. The Boilermakers love oar!!

  • Risen is Amazing for sure!!!!
    author: Tommy V

You guys are the BEST!!!. I can remember the first time i heard you guys, I was down south visiting my cousin at college and I can remember thinking that this is the best music iive heard. You guys are refreshing espically in this day and age where everybody is pop sellouts and don't even write their own music. You should travel up to minnesota, everyone loves you up here.

  • Best of all #!!
    author: Trent

You guys rock!! souls aflame and the wanderer are both great cds themselves, but Risen is amazing. You guys are gonna make it big soon!

  • Geno loves Risen!!!
    author: Gene Quickery

Risen is the best of all of oars cds. Best songs are King of Thing, Someone in the Road, and Heres to You. Me and my best friend Joe Aeschilman love listening to Risen while working together in the bagroom of Sycamore Hills golf course with headpro Tim Rimjob Frazier. Geno and Joe forever!!

  • Great Music Makes You Feel Good
    author: Sam C.

OAR's music has mad me a better person I way it lifts you up like other music can. They are some real talent.

  • The word is out
    author: Rf

The album is good . . . and simplifies many of the troubles each person encounters in life while still maintaining an upbeat feeling. I go away feeling enthusiastic after listening to it. My friends always ask me, "Who is this?", and comment on their unique sound and positive groove.

  • Great, but....
    author: Kyle

Some good stuff. I'd just like to say that the bassist is terrible. He is great at pulling the wool over people's eyes by rarely playing the same thing twice, but there's more to bass than that. First, his tone is weak. Second, his sense of time is horrid. He obviously has listened to the best (Jaco, Victor, and Flea) lots but doesn't have the talent to play like them. Oh, yea, the lead guitarist is just as bad. He plays the same unoriginal surfer lead on every song no matter what the mood. He always focuses on one set of intervals that give each song the same sound. Listen to some of their older recordings to hear him kill great songs like Untitlted (on Soul's Aflame). At least the two founders, Marc (v + G) and Chris (D) are both strong players. Jerry (S) ain't bad either. On this recording both the weaker members and supressed by the producer's keys, percussion, and additional guitar. This recording is enjoyable. I just wanted to get that off my back.

  • This Band is amazing, they really rock
    author: Jaramillo09

The CD is better than the last one

  • amazing
    author: Jared

the first time i heard of the band, i was at beach week, and thats ALL we listened too. By the end of beach week all of us had become OAR fans for life. If you guys ever come up to George Mason University you'd see how many fans you guys really have!

  • Great Bass Lines
    author: Jimmy Page

This is amazing original stuff. I live in N.Z and my cousin Will brought out one of the cd's. Now me and all my friends love it. The bassist is the best i've ever heard, his tabs should be shown on their website.

  • Mind Boggling
    author: Tony

This Cd helped me through the hardest times of my life I owe a piece of my succes to O.A.R.

  • O.A.R. is the BEST
    author: Jessica

O.A.R. is probably the best band ever. This Cd is great! I love all the songs on it! I think you are the best band alive and i cant go a day without hearing your music and i am only 14!! I cant wait to hear you play at nautica in august!! Maybe i will get to meet you again!!! I love you guys!!!!!

  • Good energy and ambition yet the songwritting is young
    author: Rob

Definitely a band that has improved on their instruments and in their songwriting. This album Has an Offspring/Live/Creed sound. I would definetly not call it roots music although OAR has worked hard in their grass root following. It is a good pop record.

  • OAR is amazing!
    author: Kate

I love all OAR's cds, but this one is by far the best! It's been playing non-stop since I got it! OAR should definatly come to Milwaukee and play!!!

WOW! What more can I say, O.A.R. is a group of individuals who have really put it together on this album, considering I saw them at Bw3's in the flats, they have come a long way since then!! That was phat, but this album is the most phatiest! It is definitely a purchase you wouldnt regret...ever!!

  • the awesome cd risen
    author: Jennifer

this cd is awesome, one of oar's best yet! i love all the songs!

  • Not bad but...
    author: Meagan

This CD rawked as well as all O.A.R.s others but this one lacks the rawness that The Wanderer and Souls Aflame had. Otherwise this CD goes everywhere with me anyways and I tell everyone i know about them and they are now hooked and I'd love to be able to go to a show but you guys never come down to Evansville,IN where i go to school and when I'm home near Chicago you're never there. Anyways you guys rawk, keep up the good work, and I hope you guys bring back the rawness that was once there.

  • No complaints
    author: Dave

My little bro, in Chicago, intoduced OAR to me over the holidays, and I'm hooked! These guys are amazing. It's just a fun sound. Like the first two albums, I wasn't disappointed with anything about Risen. I'm trying to spread it out here in Utah, but need more. Keep the good stuff coming boys!

  • A Studio Masterpiece
    author: Ned Mcknight

I bought Risen the day it came out and I've listened to it at least once a day since it arrived. What a FUN album. I moved to Tempe to go to ASU last August and I've been playing OAR's music for all of my friends and at parties I go to. I'd say there's a fan base building rapidly. The song "Hold On True" is really great, a song that doesn't get old. The band's style is so upbeat and fun, I just put in their cd and just let it play. I'm so happy that they found a record label. Good luck fellas, keep on rockin', and find a way to play a show in ARIZONA! Please!!!!!

  • OAR is GREAT!
    author: Shelly

This cd is amazing... I can't wait to hear them play live!

  • a logical extension of ska and indie that rocks your socks off
    author: James Morris

having listened to the other two cd releases, risen comes off as overproduced. once the shock wears off, the feel of the older style comes through, but with a bit more rockin beat. infused with some pre-released tracks with a different twist, the unreleased songs add a new dimension of what the band has done. all songs have a depth and intricacy that makes oar a band not soon to be forgotten. lyrically witty and musically diverse, the sound of changes and bounces the listener from verse to verse while not losing the feeling of the song itself. the only down side, if any, was that the album has previously released tracks that leave me wanting more . . . but maybe that's the point. buy this album, and the other two, and you won't be disappointed!

  • Not so much
    author: Pulatie

I'm disappointed with OAR's third CD. I was expecting some great new songs. Most of the CD is remakes of songs that I liked originally. The last two songs are great, but overall I expected much, much more.

  • The new songs are awesome, but...
    author: Josh

OAR is a great band, there is no doubt about that, and I love the new tunes on this album. I really wish that all of the songs were new releases though...the remade versions of delicate few, night shift etc. sound good, but I've heard them before. Can't wait for the next Cleveland show!

  • Positive
    author: Stamper

You guys rock, the cd is awesome and so are your concerts. I can't wait 'till you're back in Columbus

  • The CD is incredible

I own the previous two cd's from Of A Revolution and this one was right on target. I thought it would be imposible to follow The Wanderer and Souls Aflame with a another stellar album, but as always O.A.R. did it. Risen, is a little slower than the other two cd's, but it's lyrics and sound really jam. I found it to be quite different, yet very entertaining. Thanks O.A.R. Captain Kirk

  • this cd rocked
    author: Powell

oars new cd, "risen" was equally as good as Souls Aflame and The Wanderer. The new songs were incredible. the only negative i have about the cd was that they had some of there old sonds on the new album. However these are great songs so in the end i didnt mind at all.

  • sold out?
    author: Allison

hey guys! Risen kicks ass! I introduced OAR music to my school in Milwaukee WI(an all girls catholic high school) and all the girls are in LOVE with you guys. The only problem is you guys never come to Wisconsin. we tried to go to the show at HOB in chicago, but it was SOLD OUT!!! i was depressed for weeks. haha well anyways, kick ass cd fellas

  • They did it again
    author: Shannon

This CD was great, I loved it! I listen to it 24-7. The feel of the CD is so good. I also liked the new versions of UNTITLED, HEY GIRL, and NIGHT SHIFT. I can't wait to see you guys in Cleveland on March 30 to perform some of the new songs.

  • OAR is bad ass
    author: John

This cd is great. The remixes of the previous songs are awsome and all the new ones are good too. OAR is definetly going places with this album. I strongly suggest buying it if you dont have it

  • Buy it, buy it!
    author: Emily

This oar cd is the best one I own! WOW! I can't drive in my car without it playing... you absolutely must buy this cd!

  • Risen falls flat
    author: Bob

This CD is a disappointment. I loved the first two, but the record label ruined their raw sound. It was that sound which made it so great.

  • Keep 'em coming!!!~
    author: Katie- Cali

This new CD is probably the best so far. I saw them live and this brought back great memories- very upbeat and lively. Great to wake up to in the morning and start your day off on a good note! Fantastic sound and great lyrics. Thanks for yet another great CD. Keep 'em coming!

  • This Rocks!
    author: Krista Guental

You guys rock! This CD is SO good! All of my friends and I sing along to every song when I put it it. All of the songs are so upbeat, they just make me happy! Keep it up.

  • GREAT CD
    author: Jesse

I fell in love last summer at one of thier shows, this CD is amazing, the remake of "hey girl" is a great track, I reccomend this CD to everyone along with all their other CD's!!!

  • ITs a great CD
    author: Ben Ratner

This CD is fantastic because it combines old OAR releases such as Delicate Few and Night Shift with newer songs not on the previous two albums. The balance of songs is great, and the older songs are actually different versions of the tracks on The Wanderer and Souls Aflame. Anyway, great upbeat CD from an up and coming band.

  • As always OAR was great!
    author: Chad

Overall this new OAR CD was great. The new songs such as Delicate Few and Someone in the Road, rank up there with Crazy Game and City on Down, and are timeless. The only downside of this CD to me is the multiple rerelease of older songs. I loved the different take on them, but I was excited to hear a whole new OAR CD and got about a 60% new OAR CD. However, as a stated earlier, this new CD is to be deemed great and just as enjoyable as the first two.

  • OAR Keeps the hits coming
    author: Mike T.

This CD really shows OAR's development as a group and their next leap towards the big time...great songs, great lyrics, a great group...this is one of the only CD's my friends and I bring on road trips...keep making them guys and we'll keep buying!!!

  • yup awesome

  • O.A.R. keeps getting better and better with every new album!!
    author: Mark

Risen personifies all that O.A.R. is about. The new tracks are awesome and they make you wanna party with friends. What could be better than a cd like that?! The tracks they re-made were a surprising addition. I've known about them for awhile, but these guys are on their way to national success and recognition. Listen to it once and you're hooked!!!

  • OAR's best work yet
    author: Ed

This CD is definetly Oar's best work yet. Check out Delicate Few and Someone in the Road. This CD really knows how to slow it down and pick it back up in that very same song. The remixes are good, I like them for certain reasons. However, I still miss the older versions of the songs.

  • One of a Kind
    author: Matt

O.A.R. uses a sensational blend of instruments and musical devices that set them apart from the rest. Risen contains not a single bad tune, and can brighten anyone's day. Arguably the best cd ever

  • OAR is the next big name in music.
    author: Matt Drake

This is one of the best CDs I have ever heard. I go to Lee University which is a christian school. I dont listen to a lot of secular music because everyone thinks they have to talk about violence or use offensive language to be a good band. OARs songs are deep and thought provoking without crude and offensive lyrics. Thanks guys.

  • OAR's Third Album Doesn't Dissapoint!!
    author: Aaron Sacks

Teaming up with producer John Agalia, whose previous credits include work with the DMB and Verticle Horizon, OAR has released an album for the ages in their new, third album, Risen. OAR explors new musical territory here, getting to truly experience the wonders of a studio album for the first time. Each song is independent, stands out great on its own, and is thoroughly fun to listen to, but the album really stands out when listening straight through. The flow and pacing are great, and it's now one of my favorite albums ever. BUY IT!! OAR is now one of my favorite bands, and I can't wait to see them in concert again.

  • genuine excitement
    author: Mr. Monkeynose

Oar has always shown the potential to revolutionize the tired modern music scene with their artful, booty smacking melding of soulful rock and reggae. Producer John Alagia gives them the hand to smack the booty. Lead singer Marc Roberge's voice no longer gets ragged as the CD goes on, and Saxophonist Jerry Depizzo's sound is rounded out and enhances the music, rather than intruding as it once did. Thanks to the studio, Alagia, and the talent they have always had, OAR smacks da booty on "Risen." The last two songs are regrettable; OAR abandons their inimitable style for two rock songs that seem to have been written with more in mind than actually happened at the session. The CD is worth the first 9 songs, though, by far. Put 'em on, sit back, and smack some booty.

  • Risen is a great cd!!!!!
    author: Howie D.

This is the best oar cd yet. Risen is just an all out great album!! I like the new recordings of the old songs of Souls Aflame and The Wanderer and I love the new songs. My favorite songs are King of Thing and Hold on True. You guys are great!!

  • Best band in the world
    author: Carol Niezer

This cd is the best yet. The new songs like Hold on True are amazing and the recordings of the old songs sound even better than the originals. The King of Thing is a sweet toon and one of oars best songs yet. You guys are bad ass!!

  • The Revolution will continue
    author: Akenji

OAR is such a unique band because of they way in which they meld so many different music styles into their sound, most notably elements of reggae guitar. Being an avid reggae listener myself, "She's Gone(Only in Dreams)" is one of the best reggae songs i've ever heard. This cd definitely glows with refined studio work but doesn't detract from the raw vibe you get when you hear them live. OAR is still the best band around and this cd definitely proves that.

  • OAR is the best band and their new cd will go big!
    author: Mike

OAR's new cd risen shows how OAR has matured and is ready to make to the big times. The new versions of the old tracks our off the hook and the new songs just get better and better

  • I've seen them a handful of times live, and they finally captured that magic on
    author: Patty Acid

This CD is their best by far. Not only did they remake some old favorites, but introduced some new tunes as well. O.A.R. is definitely a band to watch in the future, as both of their sold out Chicago House of Blues shows have demostrated. Please go out and buy Risen right now!

  • amazing cd, great new songs and remakes of old ones
    author: Carrieelisabeth

masterpiece! OAR never lets the listeners down. signature OAR style is still present on the cd but with the perks of a professional studio recording. i highly recommend it to anyone!

  • author: Katie

OAR is still my favorite band, but I could tell it is in a real studio, whatever that means, and I have not decided what effect that has. I am slightly disappointed at the re-recorded songs (I am partial to the originals). The new tracks are AWESOME, and OAR is just going to keep on getting better, now sounding more professional, but I still wished that they hadn’t messed with the old stuff.

  • They're about to EXPLODE!!!
    author: Baundy

I just got my copy of "Risen" in the mail today and I must say this album is not a let down in the least bit. The old songs are revamped and sound great and the new songs are just damn good. These guys are going to get huge real fast and I'm glad I'm here to see it happen, but I'm happier just to get to hear it happen...

  • Phat record
    author: Steve

OAR is such a sick band. They have yet to write a bad song. I don't particularly like the new versions of the old tracks but that's what I have all the other CDs for. I'm glad to see they finally recorded Delicate Few as they have been playing it forever and it's always been one of my favorites. Everyone should have this CD!

  • The best of the 3!
    author: Sam C.

This is the best O.A.R. cd so far. This is a much more mature effort by the band. I think anyone who buys its will love. My favorite song is "Someone in The Road"

  • Big Time
    author: $$$$

I think Oar is about to make it big time. I wish them the best, but I still want them to keep touring Ohio over and over. We all knew one day they would make it big, and this Cd might just do it. Hold on True, Someone in the Road, and Heres to You are sweet.

  • A Mixed Bag............
    author: Nizick

The new tracks are few and definitely have a different sound than the wanderer and souls aflame songs. I guess you call the new sound maturation. Nevertheless, I don't know how popular the old songs re-recorded are going to be with some fans. OAR is more mature, but it just seems the same raw emotion and "un-cut-ness" is missing... it's almost like everything is more precise and planned-out, rather than the flowing feel the old albums had. Oh well, it's still a good listen.

  • it keeps gettin better
    author: Mikey

the cd is great. i dont like the new versions of the old songs, but hey you cant have everything. now i just cant wait for the next cd!!!!

  • Nice addition
    author: Ryan

O.A.R. hsa done it again.....Now that they finally they have a good studio to work in they are really gonna take off. This CD has more of a reggae feel to it so who cares if some of the songs have already been done before--they sound different! Not necessarily better than their previous CD's, definately different and a nice change of pace! Get it!

  • amazing
    author: Kevin

amazing cd...anyone that doesn't know about oar or doesn't know a lot of their songs should pick this up....my favorite songs are delicate few, king of the thing, and someone in the road. great cd!

  • best yet
    author: Geoff

this is a great follow up album. i like how they re-recorded some of the old greats and jam out with the new ones. you can really tell how there sound keeps devoloping. Woo Hoo

  • Complaints about old songs
    author: Jason Straub

This album is great. I just got it today and I haven't stopped listening to it. I've heard a lot of complaints that old songs are on here but they sound a lot different and the quality of everything on this CD is much better.

  • A solid release from a solid band
    author: Jenks

O.A.R. has done it again, and you have to love them for it. With some new material, along with remakes and unreleased songs, this album has something for everyone--whether you are just hearing about the band or are a long-time fan. "Risen" is the next step for OAR...the sound of the CD is superior to "The Wanderer" and "Soul's Aflame." It sounds like a real studio recording, making all of the songs clear and sounding great. So, pick this CD up...it's well worth it.

  • ...of a revolution , a revolution in music
    author: Nate Bergman

RISEN is a remarkable follow up to O.A.R.'s sophmore album, featuring live tracks from their fantastic live preformances , and if you've never seen them live, you haven't seen an amazing show untill you do. A truly unique blend of their old acoustic flavor and smoothe reggae/rock. They should be given six stars! * * * * * *

  • incredible

The best cd yet. Its about time some title sign them! They're going to be huge, get to know this band now, b/c someday they'll be all over your radio.

"Risen" is a must have for anyone. It is a great mix of tunes that we all can enjoy. Be sure to pick up a copy of this album...

  • If you liked the last two discs............
    author: Ben

If you enjoyed Souls Aflame and the Wanderer, Risen will blow you away. The CD takes the talents of a great band and perfects then through professional production. The remakes of the four old songs prove that great can better and the six new songs will pave the way to a bright future.

  • It doesn't get any better

  • Remake of songs?
    author: Mike

If it was Wanderer or Souls aflame, it would be 5 stars, but what had me wondering is they had songs from the other 2 albums? I was sorta hoping for 10 brand new songs, but I'll definately settle. i've been waiting for this one for sure. Hopefully i'll be able to finally see a concert

  • THE best new sound in music, OAR combines rock, reggae and lyrics
