Charting the middle ground between vicious noise and delicate melodies, The Obese create an industrial-punk sound that bridges their song writing and a deep seeded desire to hack, edit and splice anything that creates a waveform.

A tempting raw electronic flavor, a satisfying outer layer of melody and drama, a crunchy inner shell of tortured audio signals, and a swirling inner byplay of synth and beat splicing and the churning inner core of inspired instrumentation. The Obese apply a poignant perspective to their music, interweaving the art of noise with the power and levity of their instinctive songwriting. Be it their frantic, unyielding, but air-tight delivery or their handcrafted measurements of toxic, mind-altering distortions and tragically contrasted harmonies, they are hitting on something long forgotten for the majority of their listeners. Full of energy and stagecraft the group consists of a brilliant cast; Geoffrey Makousky, founder, producer, singer-songwriter, bass, shares the role of lead vocal with Dan Bateman, audio-destructica, sequencing and distortion palette. Mike Johnson brings his rhythmic expertise to drums, dynamics and sequences. Moises Soto screams baritone back-up vocals and guitars. Aeryn Emrys screams tenor back-up vocals and keyboards. The Obese offer a performance and presence that nearly overloads the stage and challenges their listeners with layers of sound and concept meant explicitly for those with a deftly contrasted aesthetic.
