Album Notes

Hailing from war-torn Israel comes this social outcry set to EBM and industrial rhythms. The first group of its kind to come from Israel, and perhaps the entire Middle East. And what an intro it is! Already a tour with electro pop titans Apoptygma Berserk and a quickly growing reputation for old school electro, EBM and industrial rhythms done right. Observe And Control cover a wide range of sub-genres (industrial, ebm, experimental, electro, future pop) on "Utopia". Observe and Control was created by Tom Cohen (aka Gnuth) in 2002, in Tel-Aviv, Israel. During their brief history, Observe And Control have remixed tracks for some of today's leading EBM and alternative acts, such as Matrix, Regenerator, Sero.Overdose, Namnambulu and F.O.D. Originally formed under the name of Xanthippe, the project's current name is inspired by the works of French philosopher Michel Foucault. The band is, in reality, a one man project, with Tom composing, singing and producing the songs while the Lyrics are written by Iris Idelson.
In "Utopia", O&C have attempted to merge together danceable
melodies with thought-provoking concepts. The album may be viewed as homage to the rise and fall of utopian projects and their impact on the individuals who partook in them. In his music, Tom is inspired by various genres and artists, from Skinny Puppy and Assemblage 23, to Frank Zappa, the Residents and the Beatles. These eclectic inspirations, along with Tom's own musical vision, come together to form the unique sound, that is Observe and Control.
