Album Notes

For over two decades, conductors and brothers Brett and Brandon Stewart have recognized the great need for quality and refined music in communities across the nation. Their vision came to fruition with the creation of the Orange County Mormon Choral Organization in the fall of 2007, with the particular purpose of strengthening music in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After only two years the organization has flourished into a performing force of over 500 strong.

OCMCO houses four choirs for children and youth ages 4-18, a professional adult choir, and a symphony orchestra. All ensembles perform in three concerts annually at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, one of the premier concert halls in the world. These consistently sold out concerts unify the community with inspiring sacred and classical music.

With OCMCO’s growing reputation came the request to create a similar organization in the East Valley of Arizona. The East Valley Mormon Choral Organization (EVMCO) commenced in the fall of 2009. OCMCO and EVMCO are the only organizations of their kind in the United States, offering high quality music training and performance opportunities to musicians of all ages and abilities.

Brett and Brandon Stewart are the full-time directors of both OCMCO and EVMCO. With undergraduate degrees in music from Brigham Young University, and graduate degrees from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School, the Stewart brothers have applied their education and training to the founding and strengthening of these unprecedented, indispensable choral organizations.
