Album Notes

NOMINATED "BEST ROOTS ROCKABILLY" Houston Press Music Award - 2007.

The Octanes are Houston, Tx, based, Adam Burchfield (all guitars, vocals), Buddy “Demon” Bradley (upright bass), and Steve Candelari (drums, backing vocals). Adam and Steve have played together since the beginning of The Octanes in 1996 with Buddy joining the trio just a couple of years later. While The Octanes continued to play in the gulf coast area, each pursued other projects until ultimately coming together on this CD. Six of the songs are original, five were written by Adam and Brandin’Iron Blues was written by Steve and Adam, with the seventh song, Fish Outta Water by Eddie Angel and Ronnie Dawson.

Rock-a-billy and blues followers may know Adam best for his bluesy, yet rockin’ guitar solos at venues such as Houston’s Continental Club, Billy Blues, Shakespeare’s Pub, the Big Easy and Cruiser’s Ice House, where he hosts a weekly Sunday afternoon jam. Prior projects include The Tony Vega Band on Tony’s first CD, "The Tony Vega Band – Live in Texas"; "Breakfast Dance" for Harmonica player, Sonny Boy Terry; Snit’s Dog and Pony Show, playing lead guitar on Snit’s CD "3 Cords and a Cloud of Dust". Prior to this project, Adam played lead guitar for Dave Nevling and The Blue Kats. Dave's "Heady Brew" CD received rave reviews that include “a blazing guitar solo by Adam Burchfield” from Jim Shortt, The Scene, October 2003. In 2005 Adam teamed up with Kim Carson for a CD, Buffalo Speedway, and a European Tour. In the summer of 2006, Adam toured Switzerland, Germany, and Italy with COAL, a Swiss musician and song writer.

In addition to The Octanes, Buddy has played most recently with the Luxurious Panthers. Steve’s projects are too numerous to mention but we will drop a couple of names that may be familiar like Bert Wills and Oscar Perry.

Additional clips and a recent audio interview at KPFT, Houston, are available at the "Official Website".
