MUSICIAN'S BIO:
Welcome to One Floor Down Jazz Suite's (Sher and Keith) official myspace music page. While the names Sher and Keith suggest individuality, the two are the ultimate compliment to each other and completion of each other in forming the music and voice of One Floor Down. As the music from One Floor Down makes it's way to ground level, you will hear many references to concepts like adoration, that one true love, breathing each other's air, climbing into each other's soul, and even "another kind of love." One Floor Down would like for you, the listener to their art, to find that level of love and inspiration in your life.

The music created by and offered by Keith would still be welling somewhere inside him had the inspiration of Sher, and, her jazzy influence, not come along. Keith is somewhat of a musical chameleon. While it began at age 9 with the mastery of a borrowed ukulele that his sister got for Christmas, his first guitar was just a few years away. He also learned drums and percussion while in school. Keith's love of vocals wasn't far behind and he was soon studying vocal technique and chorus conducting from professionals such as his friend and mentor, Dr. Greg Lyne, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Arizona State University.

Keith received two degrees, one in Journalism and the other in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota. While not holding a degree in music, Keith writes and arranges, and is a life long student of music theory. Keith believes that songs are either rhythmic, melodic, or lyrical. As a percussionist and a choral director, Keith was surprised to find a mastery of the lyrical at this stage of life. He attributes that to his relationship with Sher. In the studio Keith moves fluently from lead guitar to keyboard, to drums and percussion, and to the microphone. Keith's experiences playing many venues in the upper Great Plains includes nightly shows and the renowned Sturgis Motorcycle Classic. They have shaped his style. His eleven years in church music ministry and worship leading allowed him opportunities for writing, arranging and orchestrating dozens of original works, including "A Celtic Christmas," a celebration of music and dance. The true meaning and purpose of Keith's music exploded when he met Sher, and now he is tapping into an inner jazz persona that had laid dormant for many, many years.

"Let's-see-what-she-can-do...and watch them sit up in their seats!” Sher is a complete package of music, story, life's experiences and an uncompromising love for what she does best...sing...perform! Sher knows her audience, she senses their feelings, she responds to their every reaction and turns it all back on to them with absolutely delightful results. She is in total audience and personal control. No matter the song, she tells it's story like it should be told. . . happy, sad, soulful, lonely, funky, funny, loving...whatever the emotion...it's all there...spilling over with a love for those watching and listening in the darkness. Sher has performed in many venues, from jazz festivals to exclusive private events. Sher, has spent many years honing her estimable skills as a modern-day singer within the jazz/dance/electronic/soul genre. Her sultry style, vocal cadences, and international rhythms are largely influenced by such artists as Sade, Basia and Gabriela Anders.

When you visit One Floor Down, you will find every lyric, every note of melody, and every beat of rhythm embraces meaning. As you listen to the music of One Floor Down, you may find "another kind of love" as well as another kind of jazz.
