OKA's music brings musical traditions and cultures together - ancient and modern - black and white. The traditional rhythms and stories of DidgeriSTU's Yadaki (didgeridoo) weave throughout pumping electronic beats, vocals, exotic woodwinds and world percussion - a unique fusion of organic world sounds and electronic music like no other.
This particular album springs from the title ( OneTalk ). In the island areas north of Australia and Papua New Guinea there are hundreds of distinct languages which makes communication across tribal boundaries very hard. If we can speak together we are family, kin or friends - we are onetalk. This music is designed to cross all barriers.
OKA's live shows are inspiring, uplifting and emotionally charged, subtle and spontaneous. Their onstage energy is thrilling audiences wherever they perform. Having established themselves here in Australia, OKA have the world in their sights.
Oka have completed their 4th Canadian tour including a main stage gig at The MONTREAL JAZZ FESTIVAL 2007 and numerous performances in Japan, Singapore and New Zealand.

Another soothing groove from the OKA boys

A nice follow up to Elements, which we bought after seeing OKA in Toronto at Buskerfest in about 2005. Wore that one out from listening so much, and found Onetalk after searching for other albums by OKA. Listened to all tracks on CDBaby and fell in love with them so I ordered the CD. Plays constantly in my car now. Traditional but with a funky groove added in. Mellow, relaxing, happy music. Makes me want to lay in a hammock in the shade on a sunny summer's day and listen to the waves crash on the beach nearby.

This is a fantastic CD with incredible sound all the way through. My favorite song is definitely Freedom, however, as mentioned by another reviewer I enjoy each and every tune. A very uplifting CD to which I give a high recommendation. I will certainly purchase more of OKA's music!
