The album "Choko Choko" features John Laidler on guitars, vocals, bass MIDI guitar and programming, and Bernard Huber on the same plus violin. My favourite track is "Salani", which features samples of an irate African housewife complaining about money. "Dry Land" is another interesting track about the dry African landscape, an issue close to the heart of any Australian (though not this winter). All tracks feature a hipnotic African beat and great guitar sounds, and many tracks are clearly influenced by South African and Zimbabwean township music. Overall this is a great achievement for an African band in Australia, though this reviewer would have liked a bit less MIDI instrumentation. Nonetheless, this is a well performed and well produced CD which will get those feet moving. I loved last year's Salty Banana tape and their debut, self- produced CD continues the infectious poly-melodies, daring you not to forget about your troubles and dance the night away.
