Album Notes

The song is what matters.

OK Jones puts this idea at the forefront of the band's new record “Push/Pull,” a nuanced home recording that documents the mercurial dynamics of love. Singer-songwriter Richard Gintowt heads up the Lawrence, KS collective, which calls in beaucoup reinforcements (pedal steel, trumpet, flute, upright piano, banjo, sleigh bells, etc.) to tell each story exactly as it needs to be told. Guitarist Jeff Jackson, bassist Brian Adams and rotating drummers round out the ever-evolving ensemble.

“Push/Pull” is OK Jones’ third release on the band’s
in-house label Centropolis Records. All other titles and t-shirts are available at www.bluecollardistro.com.

REVIEWS

people should know about OK Jones.

this album is so good. the singing, the arrangements, the melodies. a nice alt-country/american vibe within supprisingly well-crafted pop songs. i'm not a very articulate writer, so it'd probably take me a few hours to explain how and why this album is so enjoyable, and even then i think i'd be doing it a disservice. i will say that OK Jones' Push/Pull is an album that you can listen to many, many times and still get something out of it. can't wait for my copy of Elephantoms!
