Olaf Schipper


Olaf Schipper studied the classical trumpet at the Arnhem conservatory with Peter van Loo and Tonny Kievits. He continued his studies at the Utrecht conservatory with Willem van der Vliet, where he obtained his diploma as a trumpet teacher as well as a performing artist.

In 1999 he was appointed as leader and solo flugelhorn player with the Trumpetcorps ‘Mounted Regiments’ and after that as principal trumpet with the Royal Military Band (KMK). At the same time he was studying the flugelhorn at the Alkmaar conservatory with Jan Schut. He graduated from this study in June 2003 at the MCO in Hilversum, accompanied by the KMK. This concert was broadcasted live at national radio in the Netherlands. Since 2005, Olaf is principal trumpet with the Fanfareband of the Royal Netherlands Army ‘Mounted Regiments’ (FKKLBW). At the beginning of 2009 the CD ‘Omaggio’ by this beautiful orchestra was realeased. On this album, Olaf is the soloist in the Concerto pour trompette by Robert Planel. Wih the same orchestra Olaf recorded a new trumpet concerto by Rob Goorhuis in 2010. The release will be half 2011 on a new album of the FKKL’BW’.

Olaf played as a substitute in a number of orchestras like the Netherlans Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Promenade Orkest, the RBO Sinfonia, l’Orchestra Particolare en the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy. He also works as a freelance trumpet player with the agency A&E music productions and the Vocal Company, he is a part of the Brass trio ‘Un Suono’ and forms a duet in chamber music with the Japanese piano player Kana Yamaguchi.
