Album Notes

The Old Dog Band was originally formed in 1999 in the foothills of Colorado. Derek Banderas(drums) and Jon Janssen (bass & songwriter) met and immediately found a common bond in their love of music. They started working on finding a guitarist and shortly came across Josh Desmidt(guitar).

The three of them brought their different influences to the studio and before long found the sound and synergy they were looking for. With Jon hailing from New York, Derek from San Diego ,and Josh from Wyoming the influences each brought to the table were quite different but seemed to be a natural fit. Than having string of good fortune they met a wonderfully talented guitarist "Jason Gilmore". Jason brought the extra piece to the puzzle they were looking for.

Once the four of them got settled in they added a sassy soultry singer by the name of Shannon Banderas (Derek's wife). This helped balance out the testosterone and gave some much needed strength to the vocals.Unfortunately Shannon came into the group after most of the album was written but they did manage to get her in as much as they could (Darlene's Monkey).Watch for more of her in their next release.

The Band also added a percussionist (Bill Brawner) to add some more spice. The Old Dog Band is still growing and evolving which is what makes the future exciting.

The Old Dog Band has played all over Colorado and has won several local music awards. If you ever get the chance come and see the show and meet the wonderful people who support the band.

Canine Cognitive Dysfunction really caught me off guard.Their instrumentation is wonderful and the energy they capture on the CD makes it hard not to want to dance the whole way through.Usually when someone asks me to review their cd I am scared to see what Ive gotten myself into ,but not with this band, you will love the variety and different flavors throughout the album.

Old Dogs Can Learn New Tricks

While I was getting gas the other day in Manitou Springs I was listening to the new release of the Olddog Band's new cd "Canine Cognitive Dysfunction", the lady pumping gas next too me came over and asked me what I was listening too. I told her and she said she need to buy it right away.Than later that same day I was listening to track 3"Siren Song" and some hippie kids walking by flashed me the piece sign and shouted "Olddog Band". Than later that night a friend called asked me to go out and see who else?..."the Olddog Band" Who is this band? Well they are the most exciting, fun, exploratory funk jam band I've heard mayber ever. They consist of six members covering the phat grooves on drums and percussion, thick swampy bass lines, solid rythmical patterns on guitar and the lead is jerryesque. But more than anything they have added one of the sexiest, sassiest, soultriest lead singer in Shannon Banderas. She was only able to record one solo track on the CD: "Darlenes Monkey. She is their main driving force now so watch out for their next album.I thought this was the greatest independent cd I've heard in a long time if not ever.Enjoy this groups wonderful exploratory ways on the CD.
