From the CD booklet:

"The album "Fusion Brazil" is my combination of Brazilian rhythms such as samba and baião with funk, blues and jazz. Being influenced by great composers such as Tom Jobim, Hermeto Paschoal, John Coltrane and Mike Stern, I mixed parallel harmonies and creative melodies supported by solid rhythmic grooves."

Thoughtful fusion cascades from the fretboard of one of the genre’s brightest new stars. Take cover as this quartet blisters through a set of righteous jazz fusion gems. Thoughtful compositions by Oliveira provide a canvas for dynamic improvisations. Chops abound and the powerhouse rhythm section burns throughout in the tradition of Larry Coryell & the Eleventh House. Leap upon this fusion train and let Oliveira and Co. take you for a ride….. Brazilian style.

Kicks butt....

Right away, the CD starts off with some kick butt playing by these masters! First of all, just take note of the rhythm section of Taylor and Carpenter - these guys are all-stars and have made their name playing with monsters like Holdsworth, Erskine, etc. Then there's Mr. Fowler - not new to the blazing horn player school. Yet, he is lyrical (there's a reason why James Taylor uses this guy). Now, that the basics are taken care of - just enjoy listening to the new sounding mastery of Gustavo's guitar playing and listen to how well he meshes with these guys. Last detail: the songs are original - not rehashed, over-done jazz standards... Is this too much to expect these days? Buy this CD - it's gonna kick your butt!!
