Album Notes

This Christmas concert is Yuletide in miniature, from the preparation of Advent through the Twelfth Day of Christmas. Angels fly back and forth with messages, a boar's head is roasted, halls are decked. Kings and shepherds visit Jesus, friends visit friends, musicians celebrate. As the old year glides into the new, we reconsider the worth of our earthly goods. The rich reach out to the poor, and the poor give back surprising riches. All proceeds benefit the Community Music School of Santa Cruz.

Lovely music - a must for reenactors

I'm addicted to all holiday music, but this one is truly a gem. It not only combines my love of the holidays, but also of historical music. There's songs everyone knows, like Good King Wenceslas, and ones that were new to me (despite my 100+ Christmas music CD collection). Conditor Alme Siderum is just lovely and I was entranced by the a cappella version of the Hallelujah Chorus. As an added bonus, it's inspired me to do some research about some of the songs for my medieval re-enacting group. The liner notes have already given me a good starting place for that research. I'll definitely be sharing this with the good lords and ladies of my group!
