Eric Olson, nicknamed 'Oly' grew up in a small town on the St. Croix River called Stillwater, just outside of Minneapolis, MN. Oly started playing drums at age 11 which is apparent in his rhythmic guitar playing today. He found out he had a voice after trading in his sticks for a microphone. Oly sang in bands around the Minneapolis area and quickly developed a good sense of melody.
Moving to Colorado in 1991 and not having a band to play with, Oly began playing guitar and writing songs about life, love, loss of love and friendship. With influences from Bread, Pearl Jam, Billy Joel, and the Beatles to Black Sabbath, Van Halen, The Guess Who, Jane's Addiction and Simon & Garfunkel, Oly takes his audience from sweet love songs to in-your-face rock without making any of it seem out of place.
Whether he is performing his original songs solo-acoustic or with a band, the audience has an immediate response to the songs. With his simplistic style, lyrics you can relate too, infectious melody and hooks that reel you in by the first or second verse, you find yourself singing along and thinking "I've felt that way before" and you want to hear more. Oly was the lead singer and song writer for the band Tunnel6 from 1995-2000. Oly is currently playing guitar and vocals for Stereomaid.
