When I first put on this CD it literally blew me away... Bill Whither's Use Me sounded so fresh and funky as I haven't heard it for a long time before. O'Malley's voice is really something that goes so well with all these funky tunes. Not to forget the brilliant brass section that puts the icing on the cake! All in all a great CD that should get a special place in every good collection and I definetly would like to hear more of this brilliant guy!

Another 'Fix' from Tony
author: Lee Moreland

With two wonderful CDs from Tony in the bag it was hard to think they could be bettered, with 'Freedom Road' they did. Taking nothing away from earlier CDs this was the 'Fix' I was after. Tony O'Malley has produced another studio album where you feel those involved know exactly what Tony is trying to do, from the uptempo numbers to the slower numbers with soul searching lyrics. The cover of 'Use Me Up' is a brave move, it shows the confidence Tony has to tackle such a classic and come out shining. In the track 'Sense of Justice' you hear Tony pushing outside the Jazz Soul field and touching some Reggea which is a refreshing change but still very Mr O'malley. Excellent.

While being busy planning my leaving for UK, I am still listening to Tony's CD's. Don't know which one I like most, they are so different from each other and yet each one sounds so good! Freedom Road contains so much soul and pure funk, there is so much pleasure in it. "Loving You" blew me away: it is 100% soul, complete and it fits. What to say more?
