Minister Omega Forbes
Minister Omega Forbes, born July 29, 1975 is an anointed, well-respected and dedicated man of God. He was born into a family with a love and appreciation for music; thus, Omega's passion for
music began at an early age. Omega led his first song at the age of eight, from that time to the present he continues to utilize the gift of singing that was given to him by God. Not only is Omega
an anointed singer and lyricist, but is also an anointed preacher, and he walks in the calling that has been placed on his life.
Omega has worked with numerous musical ministries throughout his life; those ministries include, Lamar Simmons & The Ambassadors of Christ, Tabernacle Collegiate Choir, and The Soldiers of Prophecy. On other occasions, Omega has had the opportunity to share the stage with illustrious recording artists
such as: Vicki Winans, James Bignam, Marvin Sapp, Shirley Caesar, Beverly Crawford, Byron Cage, Rev. Milton Bigham and Georgia Mass Choir, Troy Sneed, The Williams Brothers, Dorothy Norwood, Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson and others. Omega was instrumental, in the area of lyricist and is featured as a lead vocalist on the latest recording of Y.F.C. (Youth for Christ) along with Kim Burrell and other gospel artist. He continues to write songs of deliverance and many of them have received national exposure and were recorded by other artist. He was able to write four of the songs that were nationally recorded by Pastor Leofric Thomas of Emtro Gospel.
Omega has appeared on television broadcast shows such as "Your Voice" and "PowerHouse". He has also appeared on Bobby Jones Gospel Explosion (New Artist Showcase in Birmingham, AL) and "Just Be Real" (Gospel Lounge Artist) which aired on the Word Network. In an effort to reach out to his community, he sang for functions sponsored by the United Way, the Urban League, Big Bend Cares, Bridgeway Halfway House, Jubilee Job-Link, Martin Luther King Day Celebration and the NAACP. He also sang for productions such as, "Grandma's Hats", "Sunday Night Live", "Leave Wrong Alone" and others. He has also been recognized as the 1st Place winner of the North Florida Fair's 1st Gospel Showcase.
Minister Forbes is multifaceted in the area of singing and he is a positive force as a Praise and Worship leader. During Praise and Worship, he strives to minister in such a way as to create an atmosphere conducive for Worship. His mission is to lead people beyond the veil and into the presence of the Lord.
As a means of sharing his knowledge of music, Omega also conducts workshops. These workshops are designed with the intent of providing material and information that will enhance the Music Ministry of the respective organizations.
Minister Forbes currently serves as the director of The Family & Friends Chorale; which he founded in 1999. From its inception, The Family and Friends Chorale has grown in every sense of the word and has proven to be a tremendous blessing at home and abroad. He also founded the Family & Friends Youth Choir in 2002. This is an anointed group of young people with ages ranging from three to twenty years old. The youth choir grew from twenty members to fifty members in just one short year under his leadership. Omega serves as a mentor to the children and strives to help them develop their gifts so that they can use their gifts to glorify God. In 2001, the Lord inspired Omega and his cousin, Andre Forbes to start a ministry that would go beyond the barriers of denominations, backgrounds and ethnicity's and in obedience, they founded "Drega Ministries". Through this ministry, two albums were recorded and released independently. Drega Ministries has proven to be a tremendous blessing as they strive to, "Enlighten the World through Christian Entertainment". The Family & Friends Chorale, the Family & Friends Youth Choir, a band, drama and dance all went under the umbrella of this great ministry. They have been called and chosen to impact the nation as they continue to, "Lift Him Up" and trust and know that as He is lifted up, He will draw all men unto Him.
He currently serves as Director of Music at Shady Grove #1 P.B. Church where Elder Chester F. Brown III is Pastor. He is privileged to direct the United Voices of Shady Grove and the Youth Choir. He strives to encourage the music ministry of the church to give God all that we can possible offer him (our best praise, our best worship, etc.). He is a firm believer that we should perfect the gift that God has given us and works diligently with the ministry of Shady Grove. The talent of the church is phenomenal, but he encourages each component of the music ministry to sing under the anointing because it is the anointing that destroys yolks, not our talents. At the same time, he takes his role as a director and a minister very seriously and strives to cultivate their talents and strives to set an atmosphere that is conducive to worship so that the preached word may come forth easy. Omega is a praiser (such as David), but he is certainly a worshipper and is anointed to usher you right into the very presence of the Lord.
He is happily married to the love of his life, Mrs. Taneka M. Forbes (married December 11, 1999) and boldly refers to her as his; "Heaven Sent Angel" and they have one daughter, Destiny A. Forbes, who is the sunshine of his life.
