O-mega Bio
O-mega (real name Alex Castaneda) a 27 year old Mexican American was born in Chicago’s Logan Square neiborhood in 1980. O-mega always had a love for music in general as a kid would constantly be singing along to songs on the radio and even began playing musical instruments. In 1996 at the age of 16 he was a huge fan of rap/hip hop music and first started experimenting in rhyming or rapping. In the begging it was more of a hobby freestyling at local house party’s or around friends nothing major but the more he would freestyle the better he got at it, people would always look for him when there was a freestyle session going on. In the year 2000 he would start to write his rhymes on paper and practiced to songs he heard on the radio or instrumentals. That same year he met a hip hop producer and began recording his first songs.
A Couple of years later in 2002 O-mega and close friend Da Chemis started there own independent record label called Elite Tactics. Together making beats recruiting different talents and over all paying there dues in the rap game. Over the years Elite Tactics has grown as a label, releasing O-mega’s first solo album “Da John Doe” in 2006 and also releasing Elite Tactics “The Sampler” album later on that same year. Both albums were a success and underground classics. O-mega has been keeping busy performing at live shows in Chicago and different city’s in Illinois, Networking, Collaborating with other artist and labels and over all working to expand there organization.
