This performance was to benefit a 16 year old girl’s foundation – Emily Keyes - the Foundation is the “I Love U Guys” Foundation. See, Emily was killed by a gunman at Platte Canyon High School, September 27, 2006 and our Music, our Performance was to help the Foundation spread the word about School Safety, and more.
It was also to let the community know about The Stage Door Theatre’; a quaint, and wonderful Performing Arts Center located in Aspen Park, Colorado. The Theatre’ does so much for the community and we wanted to let people know about it, and experience a live band performance – they have a state of the art sound system, and some very interesting acoustical absorption panels with artwork by Ruth Israel, a 21 year old RMCAD Student.
What was most exciting however, was that Corky Siegel played with our band!! Corky is a Blues Artist from Chicago and has a few bands – The Siegel Schwall Blues Band, Chamber Blues, and The Chicago Blues Reunion Band. To have Corky Siegel play with us, well – take a listen, you’ll see!! He’s the Best Harmonica Player on this Planet!!
The Once Removed Band has been together for 9 years – although we do have originals, we really enjoy revamping covers.. I grew up with Cat Stevens, Loved Cat Stevens!! We do our version of Where do the Children Play – I think you’ll agree; it’s dynamic and exciting – I think even Cat Stevens would like it !!
We’ve taken a couple Bill Withers songs and have them arranged a bit differently – Ruth Israel takes Lead Vocals on Use Me Up and Ain’t No Sunshine.. Take a listen – email me and let me know what you think!
