Super-talented Laurel Moore as OneLadyJazz was classically trained on the piano from the age of 7. Passionate about Music and Art from an early age Laurel was always captivated by painting and singing. As a student she could often be found busking on the streets of England. Here she was talent-scouted by a hotel manager where she began doing regular gigs.
As jobs took her family further afield from England, to Switzerland, then Abu Dhabi and now Qatar in the Middle East, Laurel found it more and more difficult to find the right musicians. Her adventures led her to set up her worldwide popular blog.moorethanart.com where she began sharing her painting and music adventures.
Laurel now exhibits her art in galleries worldwide.
These sometimes solitary destinations allowed Laurel to dedicate herself to The Arts, both as an oil painter and as a musician and singer/song-writer. So her band-name 'OneLadyJazz' was a somewhat ironic choice.
2013 is the first year Laurel has ever released her music 'into the wild'.
These new singles see Laurel performing covers of great jazz songs: sometimes singing vocals, playing piano, or her vintage tenor saxophone - or duetting with stunning Canadian (finger-style) guitarist and song-writer Steve Parisien.
After discovering that music seemed to distance herself from the emotion of a song, she developed a style of 'singing' with her sax, by using improvisation only, which lends a lyrical style to her playing.
Her music is soulful and captivating and is already causing a 'buzz' in Jazz Publications. In her music you will find many layers and depths of sound. She hopes to Immerse the listener totally in the emotion .
Most of all Laurel hopes you enjoy listening.
