Album Notes

The Ones That Got Away is a three-piece indie rock band based in Morgantown, WV. A fixture in the West Virginia University music scene since 2001, The Ones That Got Away's songs are built around intricate guitar riffs and endearing lyrics. Since their first conception of singer-songwriter Wes Thomas's musical vision, the band (Zak Richards on bass and brother Derek Thomas on drums) has written over 40 original songs, most of which appear on one of their three albulms- Haunches (2001), Savor the Dregs (2003) and their newest release, Slice it Twice (2005). Influences include Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Tom Waits, Elliott Smith, Archers of Loaf, Frank Black, Wes Anderson films, and beer. The band is currently playing shows around West Virginia in promotion of the new 12-track LP, Slice it Twice.
