ONGO IS PROUD TO PRESENT THEIR NEW ALBUM:
"NEGRA by ONGO"
Deep in the core of an enchanted island in the Caribbean grows ONGO. This
powerful Puerto Rican band blends every possible musical ingredient to serve
you their own true and original intensive Rock N Roll drink better than any
Piña Colada you have ever tasted.
Their music, sung both in English and Spanish, is ready to take you into a
magical world that they call Ongolandia. To do so they have just released
one of the best Rock albums to have emerged in the past 10 years...NEGRA.
NEGRA ("BLACK" in English) hits you in the face from the moment you press
the play button. Then it takes you to so many places that you can't stop
listening to it again and again. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Tool and Pink
Floyd among others lie at their roots of musical influences.
ONGO has been spreading their music at every corner of their beautiful
island, including an opening for the band PUYA at the Tito Puente
Amphitheater at San Juan, Puerto Rico. Also they have performed at many
clubs in Orlando, Miami and New York including Hard Rock Cafe, Sr. Frogs, Tobacco Road and Churchill's with the company of very well known bands as Tereso and Junkie Rush. Receiving excellent reviews in the process.
ONGO is:
JERRY - VOCALS
RULY - BASS
GABY - GUITAR
JOEY - DRUMS

"Negra" makes your head explode since the moment you hit play. The guys had been polishing the album for some time and it shows. Songs like TheSquarePinkMoon, Isexto, and The Rodent will make you want to jump around and bang your head accordingly. Others like Danz start slow, but build up to exploding energy. The Sabbath, Led Zep, and Tool influences can be perceived, but this is Ongo, it is their vision all the way. The colaborations with other people from the puertorrican rock scene (my favorite being the solo from Ramón Ortiz from Puya in Insexto) make a welcome addition to the album's sound. I'm happy that my favorite local band finally has their new album out. Welcome back to Ongolandia.
