Classic sounding with an edge. The sound design between tracks is not just filler, it actually works to introduce the next track and sounds amazing through headphones. An album in the true sense of the phrase. A listening experience you don't want to miss

As the name suggests, anything goes with Open Wide Music. Focused mainly on the classic sounds of rock & roll, OWM enjoys playing all styles of music. Chris Munro (guitar & vocals), James Lockhart (vocals, keyboard & guitar), and Matt “Tweed” Jones (drums), met each other in 1999 while attending Harris Institute, where they were studying music production. The band formed in 2001 with former bassist and fellow Harris grad, Andy Wright. Long time friend of the band, Sean Coleman joined Open Wide Music in 2005 to take on the band's bass playing duties.
The first 2 years were spent in a small apartment in downtown Toronto, where they continuously wrote, recorded and perfected their songs before ever stepping on stage together. Open Wide Music released their debut album, Versi¨un 01 in 2004. Recorded by James Paul at the Rogue, mixed and produced by the band members (remember they're well-trained and self-sufficient in this area), this recording captures the band exploring the many musical genres that have influenced them over the years. The recording also includes many guest performances by friends they met while in school, including fellow students, instructors, and even current member Sean Coleman can be heard singing harmonies on a couple of tracks.
Since the release of their debut album, OWM continues to evolve. Constantly writing and perfecting their songs, the band has been churning out new material for almost every show. And whether you find them putting on one of their popular Neil Young tribute shows with they're friends, or challenging each other with acoustic guitars, bass, and hand-drums at a backyard party, Open Wide Music is always working on something and they're always going to keep in interesting.
Right now, they are working on new recordings that are near completion. Expect another release in early 2007 along with a brand new website. But don't expect the same music! You can hear the new songs as they play at clubs in Toronto and around southern Ontario. 2007 is going to be a busy year for Open Wide Music so watch out!

It's truly a groovy album
author: Derek
Open Wide Music has embraced a multi-genre performance for their debut album. The band
crosses from blues to country to gospel, from rock to folk to alternative rock flawlessly. There is a strong presence of varied instruments and often the band breaks into elaborate instrumental breaks. 7 guest artists appear on the album, this too is a strong indication of the band's ability to put forth a solid album. The more I hear some of these tracks, the more I want to hear them again. Honourable mention to tracks I especially like are Lost,
Godzilla vs My Guitar, Chromatic Blues (I'm Alright), You Know Me, Uncle Bob's, Running,
Trippy Song and the secret track at the end of the cd.
