Album Notes

Opium is a band consisting of members in Israel and Russia, with musical, lyrical, and production contributions from both countries. The band has been around for about 15 years, but has never released an album until now. Opium finds their musical roots in the synthpop and new wave of the 80's, but builds onto that foundation with the production sounds of today. The vocalist is passionate and talented, sounding like a classically trained version of Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan, and the songs are built around strong melodies and sensual lyricism. This album has been in the works for several years, and A Different Drum is happy to present a limited edition for the first 500 copies, which includes a 13-track bonus disc packed with alternate remixes and original Russian-language demo songs. Hopefully, the follow-up to this excellent debut album won't take nearly as long to put together, because you'll be wanting to hear more from Opium after this initial taste.
