Album Notes

To mirror the identity of the times, The Opposite Sex express a shocking vision of dark beauty in a world to come. They are a pop band with a dark aesthetic and glam edge. Formed in 2004 and inspired by the post-punk era’s harder acts, the band has gained a reputation for its swelling intensity, tribal rhythms, and bittersweet melodies. Their live performances are a charged exploration of theater & sound. BigTakeover magazine described their performance as "arresting post-punk, complete with a slightly saucy glam stomp".

Displaying the band’s versatility, it has played with seminal post-punk bands New Model Army and Bunnydrums, popsters Shiny Toy Guns and The Ocean Blue, and the eclectic Deadfly Ensemble, Cinema Strange, and Lena Lovich.

Upon their EP release in late 2005, they were invited to play Drop Dead Festival 4, Winterfest, Popnoise 3, Dam Festival, and were included in several compilations including TWF Magazine, Crawling Tunes and Strangeland Records. The EP has received airplay on Rader Report, a show on XM Radio featuring unsigned acts, as well as UMUC (MD), WGMU (VA), WRGW (DC), KXLU (LA), WZBC (Boston), WNRN (VA) and Radio Crystal Blue (NY).

With their initial full length release (Violent Heartstrings) completed, the band is now working on its fall tour schedule
