Soulful and Honest
author: Anonymous
This music is direct from the soul: rhythmic, juicy and sublime, sometimes melancholy and always very beautiful. I admire the richness of the melodies, the texture and patterns of the harmonies throughout, and the intricate layering of guitar work and electronic sounds, all interwoven into a great tapestry of sound. The authors pour their hearts out here, giving and giving, drawing deeply upon their many individual talents and the collective chemistry, as siblings, they possess.
Sink Your Teeth is a distinct and personal world. I especially appreciate "China Reigns," a track characterized by soulful dissonance and a muted suppleness that builds and builds to an explosion of harmony in the final verses: the "field of blossoms," if you will. Faint guitar harmonics and a lonely bassoon lend an ethereal quality to the mood.
On the track, "All Over the Place," the vocalist sings, "Give me love, Curl my lashes, Sink your teeth," with such power and grace as to imbue the phrase with wonderful potency, an almost plump texture you can hold, into which you can Sink Your Teeth, as it were.
Positive. Essential. Honest. Consistently beautiful, even when emotionally raw and somewhat youthful.
This album warrants attention. It is very evidently the fruit of great love. How Oracle evolves from here will be a wonder to behold.
