Album Notes

Orchard was formed around the idea; art transcends all forms of communication. Together, as a band, not only do we create music, but extend our energy through other art forms. Musically, we compile our thoughts, ideas, and personalities to create something intimate and honest. We loosely share the philosophies of the punk movement, Socrates, Carl Jung, and Timothy Leary, but are also constantly revising the past. Orchard emerged from the average late 20th century American family. Since childhood, art captured our minds and sparked our imagination. Music, being the most dominant medium of art in each of our households, has changed something inside each of us. This change, at first unrecognizable, now challenges each one of us to create. Using this creativity as inspiration, the evolution of Orchard began.

Lots of promise from a new artist

While "The Art of the Sunrise" does seem to be over produced at times, it certainly shows a promising future for Orchard. At times it seems as if they struggle for a style of their own, Going from loud, psuedo hardcore peices, into beautiful soundscape inspired creations. They however do a good job of keeping their album flowing, leading songs together gracefully. While musical talent is sometimes lacking, Orchard certainly makes up for it with their creativity, and their honest, emotional lyrics. Nevertheless, the album is very enjoyable to listen to. Give them time to grow musically, and I think they could be the next radiohead...
