Album Notes

Orenda was a family of musicians. Making their debut in Evansville, Indiana, Orenda was compiled of four individuals who shared a passion for making original music that sparked people to react. Tired of the hum-drum cover bands of E-ville, Orenda formed in despite of the lack of support for original music and made an enormous impact on the community that still resonates after their break-up. Orenda was Denise Dill (songs, guitar, and vocals), Nick Turpen (bass guitar and vocals), Victor Birkle (percussion), and Summer Roedel (vocals and percussion). Orenda was a collective of musicians working to inspire people with original thoughts. Recorded in Petersburg, IN by Brick Briscoe "Mediocrity" is a misleading title to a unique take on life growing up in rural southern Indiana.

Listening to Orenda’s first, and only, album is like spending a sunny afternoon lazing in the grass. The band’s funky bass lines and percussion lend themselves perfectly to singer-songwriter Denise Dill’s inviting voice and intensely personal lyrics, coming together in a luxurious masterwork that wends its way around the heart and lingers like a subtle, pleasant fragrance.

Little jazz, little folks, and yeah some rock, too!

Can't imagine too many better ways to spend 5 bucks. The sounds are a combination of a little jazz, a little folk and kick started with a bit of good ol' rock. Very good buy!
