notes

Origen's journey to the international music stage from Kiev (Ukraine) in a flurry of light & sound started in 1996 when this name first appeared on the CD "Electro" (available at www.cdbaby.com/origens). The founders of the band were Alexsey and Denis Zakharenko. Their music was as the nature of the soul in it's boundless proximity to the cosmos. It obliterates the boundaries of space and time and impressed the listeners with the originality, as well as inspired style and sound.
The forays into the mysteries of art & sound, based on large body of work both Classical , New Age and Electronic & coupled with a propensity to evoke classical images, resulted in the release of the Origen's second album "Era of Aquarius" in 1999 (available at www.cdbaby.com/origens). This album blends together elegance and beauty dressed in electronic clothing. "Dance Of The Clouds", a very beautiful piece from this album with a plaintive electronic synthesis piano of baroque & melancholy tone & ambiance, like a candle flickering in the dead of night was recognized as the best musical piece and got the Diploma at the IV International Festival Of Underwater Art "Silver Shark" in 2004. Also in 2004 the song "Your Love" from another Origen's album "Mooky Zvoo"available at www.cdbaby.com/origens ) became Nominee in the dance song category of the "2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards " in USA. There were 140,000 songs entered from 85 countries worldwide and "Your Love" was chosen as one of the best dance song of the year.
New turn in Origen's music happened in 2002 when Alexey Zakharenko invited opera soprano Tanya Lubimenkoto take part in the recordings of electronic/new age album "Ave Maria" (available at www.cdbaby.com/origens). Three months after the release of this album on June 2002, all tracks from the album were at the top of different international charts. "Ave Maria" (by J.Caccini) climbed to #1 at New Age mp3.com Charts, "Ave Maria" (by F.Shubert) was #1 in Electronic Classical Charts, Largo from Bach's concerto Fmin was # 1 at Progressive Metal Charts. About two months the songs occupied their #1 position and till now many tracks from this album are at the top in different international charts. "This is so good! Incredible sound, and mixing..and I cried when the vocals came in... this is "Dead Can Dance + Sarah Brightman. I will be listening out for more... how can I not".

I thought it would be more spacey but I liked it anyway there not much more I can say I have added it to freedb.org.

  • nice background music

This is my first experience with Origen and I like this first cd. This recording has a nice blend of calm, relaxing sounds to more buoyant energetic landscapes. This is nice to play as background music as it keeps a balance of energy-flow and lilting harmonies.

  • WOW! The tempo and range of sound are so gripping

I am owner of a Shop and many people have comented on this CD. I like the way it takes you from relaxation to excitment. I play it as often as I can.

  • Commercial side of Tangerine Dream? Who cares!
    author: Wes Royer

I think I saw a comment describing this CD as the "commercial side of Tangerine Dream." I offer this: "Who cares?!" Yes, this is ambient, new-age, progressive instrumental music based on orchestral compositions on the keyboards. But it is a fantastic journey into the composer's mind, and hopefully into your own.

  • Dampens my stress while keeping my mind active...
    author: JH Furnish

This author named his musical concept 'Origen', after a great Christian philosopher, theologist and writer from the Renaissance period. He is from Kiev, and writes his music with God in mind. God is weighing in heavily with His ability to inspire the artist, because this sounds like the Music of God. This music sounds like it is echoing across the universe, particularly on the song 'Deep Space'. If space weren't soundless, this is what it would possibly sound like. In some sense, it must, because God is helping this artist write his album. This must be what God hears when He dips His Ear into our physical reality just to enjoy what He's made... before we get out there to muck it up. Hopefully, by the time we get out there, we'll all have the joyously contemplative vibe of 'Electro' in our hearts so we can explore His creation without exploiting everything we see. As for the music, it is multilayered keyboards unifying different aural experiences into one setting, focused upon whatever the artist is meditating. Throughout the CD, I hear sounds from a composer's mind that project what me might find. 'Strange Voices' for example seems possibly like what alien voices may sound like when we finally meet them. It is encouraging to hear another Christian suppose that someone else might be out there, when so many religious dogmatists deny the possibility - even though the possibility was embraced even in medieval times by the Church. The entire album seems to be about contemplations in the mind of the artist. He moves from thinking about the Universe to the change in Russia ('Midnight Riots') to family and faith ('Song for Grandpa' and 'Return to the Church'. Alexsey Zakharenko of Kiev has delivered to us a great piece of music, and fortunately this isn't all. I'll be sure to collect the rest of his works.

This Composer Can Do No Wrong On Anything He Creates... Being The 1st Of 4 CD's Made By A. ZAKHARENKO, Alais 'ORIGEN', This Sound Is Truly Unique & Very Awe- Inspring... It Lifts You To The Heavens On A Magic Carpet Ride & Keeps You In a Sea Of Tranquility... The Electronic Compositions Are Dream-Like & Warrant Many Repeated Playings... You'll Be Very Glad You Got this CD... FABULOUS Recording... A+++++

  • Pleasant new age electronica
    author: Brian

So what if this is a bit derivative of Kitaro and the more commercial side of Tangerine Dream? The fellow makes nice use of a tried-and-true pallette of "dreamy/ trippy" synth sounds, and composes interesting, enjoyable, mostly midtempo melodic pieces that hold your interest and don't get too sappy. This is comfort music for winding down at the end of a stressful day, when you don't want to hear "innovative" or "challenging." Overall it stands up very well to the genre-defining works of the 1970s, and sounds fresher because you haven't already heard it a zillion times.
