An accomplished musician from Co. Waterford, Ireland, Ormy grew up among musicians such as guitarist Donal Clancy, piper David Power and members of the Irish traditional group, Danu. He played folk and blues for many years and later became involved in genres as diverse as rock, jazz and experimental music.
Ormy has performed extensively in Europe and America both as a solo artist and as part of a variety of bands. “The songs on this album have travelled through life with me like dear friends,” he says, “I found them in all sorts of places between the docks of Dungarvan and the live oaks of Luckenbach. I love singing them, they entice such beautifully vivid dreams to my mind as their stories unfold.”
Prepare to be intrigued by the dark tale of "The Outlandish Knight", enraptured by the bluesy "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed And Burning" and seduced by a fine rendition of "Matt Hyland", hailed by Liam Clancy as the best version he’d ever heard.

Folk, Blues and the Sea

This is the best new album I have heard in ages, and I've nearly worn it out from listening to it already! The arrangements of the well known and traditional songs are totally new and brilliant: The leaving of liverpool is played and sung in a way that shows what a sad song it really is, and the outlandish knight is totally dark and scary! The blues tracks are brilliantly played as well, and even though the different songs are so diverse, it all fits together somehow. I would recommend this album to anyone.
