Album Notes

Orquesta Antonetti

Orquesta Antonetti has been performing for Salsa lovers since 1970. Victor Antonetti, Sr. born in Salinas, Puerto Rico came from a very musical family where he played percussion as a young child. When Victor moved to Rochester NY, he played with various groups along with his cousins and uncle. Victor Antonetti Sr. had a vision of establishing a Latin Orchestra in Upstate NY, an Orchestra that has continued to remain strong and true to the music. Victor Antonetti, Jr. who currently directs the Orchestra has continued to keep the band on the map. Orquesta Antonetti throughout the years has shared the stage with legends, like the late Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and Ray Barretto, including El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. Also, Orquesta Antonetti has had the privilege to perform with some of the best Salsa singers in the world like Tito Allen, Rafael De Jesus, Hector Tricoche, Cano Estremera, Ismael Miranda, and Johnny Rivera among many other international artists. Orquesta Antonetti, consisting of many family members, has currently finished their third CD entitled “Sigue El Paso”.

In this production, Victor Antonetti, Jr. has collaborated with some of the best producers and arrangers in the Salsa and Merengue industry. Victor Antonetti, Jr. has asked Grammy Award winner Ricky Gonzalez to produce the upcoming cd for Orquesta Antonetti. “Ricky did not hesitate at all, it was a great honor and experience working with Ricky Gonzalez, his resume speaks for itself”. Ricky Gonzalez arranged five compositions in the cd as well as Angel Fernandez, another amazing musician and well respected arranger. Legendary arrangers Tommy Villaniry, Richard Marcell, and Wilfrido Drullard each have arranged a composition for this cd.

Additionally, there are two invited guest singers on this project. Singer and long time friend Tito Allen, and singing sensation and relative, Frankie Vazquez. “I have been a long time fan of Tito Allen” Victor Antonetti, Jr. says “a very professional musician when it comes to his craft”. “Frankie, he is just amazing.” This cd has ten tracks. A Son Montuno, eight Salsa tracks, and two Merengues. We’re very excited about the new production. There is something for everyone. Enjoy!
