Album Notes

After a few sessions of Open Mic's at Lou's Rocky Road Tavern in Okemah, Oklahoma during the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, it occurred to somebody that the performances there needed to be shared. A studio was brought in, and after narrowing the performances down to a handfull of artists that captured the heart and soul of American Folk, Oklahoma, and the spirit of Woody Guthrie, this cd was released.

A year after this cd was recorded, some of the performers on this CD were performing on the festival's BIG stage. You may see names that you recognize on the songlist if you follow the folk circuit, and if not, many of these performers are sure to become recognized names in years to come. Catch their acts as they were heard on July 12th & 13th, 2002, in the legendary hometown of Woody Guthrie at a tavern where artists from around the country come to enjoy a cool down, take in the atmosphere, and maybe share a song.

Only a few hundred of these CDs were pressed. These are the original and only CDs made of the 2002 Open Mic sessions at Lou's. The recording and song quality is excellant, and captures every bit of the live atmosphere of Lou's. There are not many left. These performances are released with the artists permission, and produced by the Oklahoma Songwriters & Composers Association (OSCA).
